Google is the default search engine for most of us, but did you know that you can make donations to charities, or even earn cryptocurrency by using other search engines?

You don't need to do without Google or switch to any of the other search engines right away. You can use both at the same time, but the idea is to try to stay away from Google to discover features and results you won't see on it.

Here are 5 alternatives to Google that help you explore new things:

1- Mojeek:

Anything posted online gets a lot of feedback, and that's what Mojeek works. It filters search results based on how people feel about this link.It currently offers five emotions: love, sadness, anger, humor, and wow.

All you have to do is go to Mojeek, type what you want to search for, and click emojis to get search results that match your feelings.  The more you press a different emoji the results will change.

Mojeek is also a web-crawling search engine, which means that it uses its own results unlike many metasearch search engines that rely on Google search packets, or the results of any other search engine, and respects the privacy of users.  There is any type of tracking.

2- Givero:

How great it would be to make a donation to charities every time you search for something on the web instead of private companies, which is the idea of Givero.

The idea is similar to that of the German Ecosia engine - which donates about 80% of the gains to the public good - and a few other technology companies that focus on philanthropy.  Givero earns revenue through advertising when it is used to search for anything like: Google, or Microsoft Bing, but Givero allocates half of the advertising revenue from these searches to charity.

You can choose which charitable organizations to donate, including: Mozilla Foundation, WWF, Ocean Cleanup, and some local Danish organizations because the headquarters of the search engine Givero are located in Denmark.  You can also add the charity you want to convert to, and ad revenue from your searches will be transferred only to that organization.

3- Gibiru:

If you despair of protecting your privacy with Google, Gibiru is the best way to view Google search results while protecting your privacy, and you'll also see some of the results Google might censor.

Gibiru claims to be an unfiltered private search engine and has a modified version of Google's algorithm.  So you're likely to see the same results you see in Google search, and the interface is a bit similar.

But during the search you will find a second tab called Uncensored, which displays links that you will not see on Google, but in essence; Gibiru does a good job of protecting your identity during searches, it uses 256-bit encryption for all searches, and does not retain  Does not store any cookies on your device and does not sell any of your data to third parties.

4- SearX:

The SearX engine allows you to get results from different search engines, relying on a metasearch mechanism to aggregate the results into a single central page, and also on open source software.

You can set the search engines you want to use through the Preferences tab, including: Google, Bing, and DuckDuckGo, as well as smaller names like Qwant and Startpage.  You can also choose specific engines for each type of search categories: public files, files, images, maps, music, video, news.

The data on the SearX's About page indicates that it does not store any data, does not create a profile of your online behavior, and does not share what you are looking for with third parties.

5- Presearch:

The Presearch search engine allows you to earn some cryptocurrencies with every search you do, called PRE codes, which are not currently worth much.  CoinMarketCap values one PRE currency at $ 0.001.

Each search gives you a few PRE codes, a maximum of 32 searches per day with these payments.  Presearch engine tokens can be retrieved from an online store that sells merchandise, and you can use them to purchase advertising space on the Presearch site.
