5 ways to fix Google Assistant no longer working on Android

Google has developed a Google Assistant, Voice Assistant, to facilitate the performance of tasks on an Android phone using voice commands, such as: for example: opening applications, setting appointments and sending text messages, but your device does not respond to activation words, you have to take some measurements to restart.

Here are 4 ways to fix an issue where Google Assistant stops working on Android:

1- Restart your Android phone:

In most cases, restarting the phone is one way to solve many problems. Press and hold the phone button for a while and you will see multiple options. Choose (Restart). Still available, go to step 2.

2- Make sure the wizard is activated and supported by your phone:

Not all Android phones support Google Assistant. The following specifications are required for implementation:

  • Android 5.0 or above, at least 1 GB of memory.
  • Android 6.0 with at least 1.5 GB of memory.
  • Google Apps version 6.13 or higher.
  • Activate Google Play services.
  • Screen at least 720p.

In addition, the device language must be set to one of the following settings: Arabic, English, Chinese (Traditional), Danish, Dutch, English, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, or Vietnamese.

If Google Assistant is not yet available, do the following:

  • Go to the Google app on your phone.
  • Click (More) at the bottom of the screen.
  • Click (Settings) then select (Google Assistant).
  • Click the Assistant tab above and scroll down to select your phone.
  • Press the switch to switch.
  • Now call the assistant and say: (OK Google) or (Hey Google). If nothing appears on the screen, it is time to enter step three.

3- Redefining the sound model:

The reason Google Assistant stops working may not recognize your voice. Just:

  • Open it on your phone (Google app).
  • Click (More) at the bottom of the screen, then click (Settings).
  • Select (Sound), then press (Sound Match).
  • Click (Recycle Language Template).
  • Click (I agree). Follow the instructions on the screen to redefine the audio model.

4- Other solutions:

If none of the solutions above works, try the following:

Check the microphone: Ensure that the microphone is working properly and do not cover it with your hands when trying to contact Google Assistant.
  • Check your internet connection: In order to use the standard assistant, you must be online and have a stable connection.
  • Disable any other audio help on your device: If you have a Samsung phone then you need to disable Bixby. If you have installed Alexa, Cortana or another voice assistant on your phone, turn it off or delete it.
  • App upgrade: Make sure to update (Google app) to the latest version.
  • Grant permissions: Also make sure that Google Apps grant all permissions by: selecting (Settings) apps, choosing apps, pressing (Google Apps), then selecting (Permissions).
