The US Army is developing technology that enables soldiers to read minds

According to the latest research on decoding brain signals, US Army soldiers will be able to silently communicate with their colleagues during future operations.

This finding was funded by the US Army Research Office over the next five years to successfully separate brain signals from those that do not influence behavior.

Using an algorithm, the research team can identify the signals in the brain that direct signals related to movement or behavior, and then remove those unrelated to the behavior from other brain signals.

"We are not only measuring the signals here, but we can interpret them," said Hamid Karim, project manager at the Army Research Office.

Researchers hope the technology can transfer results directly to the brain to rapidly alter soldiers' behaviors over time.

This can include signals of stress and fatigue that the brain generates before a person realizes they are tired.

Karim said: Researchers can allow the mind to communicate with the computer and send signals to other soldiers: You can allow two people to talk to each other without a whisper.

He added: The first person talks to a pocket-sized computer, it can be his cell phone or something else, then that computer talks to your teammates' computer, then the computer talks to the second person that no one has. conversation.

In experiments, researchers at American and British universities have observed that monkeys try to reach the ball to distinguish brain movement signals from other activities. Researchers are now trying to identify signals other than movement.

Karim said: Reading what you want does not mean that you understand. The next step is to be able to understand and break them into words so that they can be combined into a single meaning. This method is similar to learning vocabulary and letters so you can write.

The main goal of this research is to put the computer and the brain into a two-way communication mode.

The development of the brain and computer interface is a long-term development of the technology industry. Neuralink recently introduced a brain-computer interface in the hope that it would allow humans and AI to coexist.

Karim explained that there is still a long way to go for brain and computer interfaces that can be used in combat scenarios.
