ALFA AOA-2458-79AF is a new affordable, high-quality, TAA-compliant, Wi-Fi antenna with N-socket and omnidirectional 2.4 / 5GHz gain. For 5 GHz the gain is 9 dB and for 2.4 GHz the gain is 7 dB. It has a weatherproof casing. It is an excellent antenna for use in boats or recreational vehicles. It is delivered without mounting bracket.

It's just an antenna, not a standalone Wi-Fi radio, and it can't be used to receive Wi-Fi signals on its own. It must be connected to a compatible Wi-Fi transmitter or radio. To get dual-band capability, it must be connected to a Wi-Fi receiver or transmitter with dual-band capability - this cannot convert a single band radio into a dual-band device.
The Type N socket allows direct connection to various external WiFi products including Alfa and Ubquiti products. The antenna is designed to be connected directly to the WiFi receiver or transmitter, and no chip is installed.
