Google TV will add children's accounts this month

Google announced today, Monday, that it has taken the first step to bring family features to Google TV by providing accounts for children.

From Google Kids Space on select Android tablets to teacher approved apps on Google Play, Google has made great strides in exploring the Internet for kids.

It is easy to create an account for each child as you can add an existing Google account for your child or create a new account with only his name and age.

Parents can choose which apps to add to their child's account. This calculation line contains some kid-friendly app suggestions so your kids can easily find what they see.

You can use the Google Play Family Media Library to share access to purchased TV shows and movies on other devices.

The Kids' Google TV account is aimed at a younger audience and features bright colors and interesting illustrations.

The background can be customized to match the look of the children. Google will introduce avatars in the coming weeks so kids can choose photos for the account based on their interests.

On-screen parental controls allow parents to manage their children's viewing time by setting daily viewing limits and bedtime.

If the TV needs to be turned off before the end time and the broadcast time expire, the kids will receive three warning signs and ask them to countdown.

To prevent children from switching to your account, you can activate the account lock function to make changes using only a PIN code.

You can also manage some content requests on Google TV directly from the Family Link app to make sure your child's TV time follows the groundbreaking digital rules that you've set for your family on devices like Android phones or Chromebooks.

You can also use your phone to check the time your child spends on your favorite apps, block and unblock apps, monitor app activity, and much more.

Starting this month, support will roll out to Google TV children's accounts through Chromecast and Google TV, as well as other Google TV devices around the world, in the United States and other regions this month.
