Sony is closing the PlayStation 3 digital store this summer

Sony will officially close its PlayStation Store for PlayStation 3 on July 2, and the store will close on August 27 for the Vita.

Due to the lockdown, you will no longer be able to purchase digital copies of the games or DLC for the PS3 and Vita.

Sony will also remove remaining PlayStation Portable (PSP) purchase features on July 2nd.

Plus, you can still download and play previously purchased games, videos, and media. However, at least for the time being, what has changed is that you cannot purchase digital games and videos from PlayStation 3, PS Vita or PSP.

Once the store closes, the in-game purchases will also stop. However, you can still purchase the purchased content after the shutdown so that you can access the PlayStation 3, PS Vita and PSP versions of the games with the help of shared purchase.

News of the shutdown first surfaced last week, and many people are concerned that the shutdown will prevent people from downloading games from their devices.

Of course, the only possible change is that you will not be able to purchase new games and digital content if the game does not support cross-shopping.

Sony's PlayStation 3 was originally released in November 2006. The platform has total sales of more than 80 million units.

The Vita performed poorly with a total of 10 million units sold, but the PSP was a huge success, selling 80 million units over the platform's 10-year life.

After the deadline, after July 2 and August 27, funds in PSN Wallet will not be refunded via PS3, PSP or Vita.

The company said: This decision was made to focus its resources on the PlayStation Store for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 so that the customer experience can be further improved.
