| Windows 10 gets a new File Explorer icon |
Microsoft is offering a visual fix with a new icon for File Explorer in Windows 10.
Microsoft has already begun rolling out a beta version of Windows 10 that includes changes to system icons in File Explorer, including the Recycle Bin and folders for documents and devices (such as drives).
Microsoft Windows Insider Program Manager (Amanda Langowski) said: Several changes have been made, such as: for example, aligning folder icons and icons for standard file types to provide greater consistency between the offered Microsoft products.
She added: It should be noted that the user's higher-level folders (such as Desktop, Documents, Downloads, and Pictures) have a new design that is easy to distinguish in a jiffy.
Microsoft also indicated that the recycle bin icon has also been updated - a clear indication that the company has tried some recycle bin changes in the past that haven't worked well for Windows users.
In the large Windows layout, these icon changes are very minor, but they are part of Microsoft's tremendous effort to update Windows.
Microsoft released a new system code for Windows 10 earlier this month.
The company updated some color versions of Windows 10 icons last year and tweaked the Start menu to make it easier.
Microsoft is also planning a major visual transformation of the Windows OS called "Sun Valley".
The company is expected to provide detailed information on its vision plans and more information about the future of Windows at a special news event in the coming months.
Icon updates have also been made, and File Explorer layout made some adjustments made.
Microsoft added additional space between items in File Explorer and provides a compression mode to revert to the classic File Explorer mode. The updated screen has improved the touch screen further and added new icons.
