Super Mario Bros broke the record for the most expensive game

Last Friday, the stamp edition of the classic NES Super Mario Bros game sold for $ 660,000 through Heritage Auctions, more than four times the previous record for the most expensive game ever.

This included $ 550,000 from sellers and $ 110,000 from auction platforms. The highest of these bids came after 13 bidders submitted 36 different bids, including those for a large-scale agency, before the auction started on time.

The seller of the sealed copy, who has publicly requested anonymity, told the auction platform that the game was purchased as a Christmas gift in late 1986 and had not been touched in a desk drawer for 35 years before its discovery.

The deal clarified the video game auction platform's previous record of $ 156,000 paid for the rare, sealed edition of Super Mario Bros 3, which went on sale last November.

Previously, Rally Collections bought the sealed Super Mario Bros game for $ 140,000 last year, a previous record for the game.

According to the Heritage Auction House, the copy that sold yesterday is very special - it's the best sealed plastic version with a perforated cardboard sticker, and it's also the oldest sealed version of Super Mario Bros we can display.

She added: This is only the fourth edition of Super Mario Brothers, and it has a very short production period. To paint a better picture, a domestic version of the platform was released in mid to late 1986, but no black box games were released. This release includes Game Pak Code NES-GP.

It should be noted that in early 1987, Nintendo was able to add branded icons to the Nintendo entertainment system through its game box.

It should be noted that this is not the first time that Super Mario Brothers has kept this record, as the US version of the game sold for $ 114,000 in July 2020, and the record for another version was broken at $ 100,150. The game was released in February 2019.
