Sharp announced the launch of the Aquos R6 flagship phone

Sharp announced its new flagship Aquos R6 in Japan, which includes the Leica brand camera which is now the largest camera sensor in all cell phones.

After Huawei pulled out due to sanctions imposed on the international smartphone market, Leica appears to have found a new mobile camera partner in Sharp.

Sharp has partnered with Leica to develop a 20MP camera with a 1-inch sensor, which is one of the largest camera sensors available in a smartphone.

The specifications of this sensor are the same as the Sony RX100, the second 1-inch sensor included in the smartphone.

The first sensor was released in 2014 with a Panasonic Lumix DMC-CM1 mobile phone, but it is not a flagship.

The Japanese company worked with Leica to develop the entire camera system, including the sensor (most likely Sony sensor), a 19mm wide angle lens (35mm equivalent), and image quality features.

Even the design of the 7E lens earned the legendary Leica Summicron trademark, so you can shoot with less distortion.

However, the Aquos R6 only has a single rear view camera, so the zoom (from the large aperture to the telephoto lens) is more digital than optical.

The collaboration between Sharp and Leica is interesting as there are rumors that the German company has ended its relationship with Huawei, although the two companies have already denied this.

However, due to Sharp's new collaboration, Leica is no longer exclusive to Huawei, and there are rumors that Leica can work with other companies like Xiaomi as well.

According to Sharp, the Aquos R6 has a 6.6-inch HDR screen with a resolution of 2730 x 1260 pixels and a brightness of 2000 nits. This is the highest percentage available for any smartphone.

To get that number, Sharp said: The OLED display was developed with IGZO technology. To prevent the screen from rapidly draining battery power, Sharp developed a system that reduces the refresh rate when displaying still images at 1Hz.

The feature for those interested in fingerprint security is the dual fingerprint system. The Aquos R6 appears to be one of the first smartphones to use Qualcomm's 3D fingerprint authentication system, which was first introduced in 2019.

The large storage space makes for easy fingerprint recognition and allows users to log in with two fingerprints at the same time for added security.

Other specifications include Snapdragon 888 processor, 12 GB of RAM, 128 GB of expandable storage, and a 5000 mAh battery.
