Samsung launches Galaxy Z Fold 3 with S PEN

At an Unpacked event, Samsung announced what it sees as the future of mobile phones and foldable devices, showcasing the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 that showcase screen functionality in different ways.

Galaxy Z Fold 3 is a productivity device that now comes with 120Hz screens inside and out. S Pen support added. More important than the usual spec upgrade, however, is Samsung's message about durability, as this phone is more flexible than its predecessors.

It's worth noting that this is technically the fourth Galaxy Fold phone. The company has made huge strides with the Galaxy Z Fold 2. But some people still see the screen and other screens turn off while using the device.

For the Galaxy Z Fold 3, the company has made a number of changes to the device's material and interior design, which will likely outpace the foldable smartphone's $1,799 price tag for many years to come.

This phone looks like the Galaxy Z Fold 2. But the improvements are everywhere. The screen protector is now 80% stronger.

Samsung Gorilla Glass Victus is used all over the screen to improve drop protection. The aluminum in the flexible joint is now 10% stronger. The degree of protection of the entire device is IPX8 which means you can submerge it in water for up to 30 minutes.

The device is powered by Snapdragon 888 processor and has 12GB of RAM. It has 256GB or 512GB memory settings.

The three rear cameras continue to use a 12-megapixel sensor with a wide-angle lens with an aperture of f/1.8, a wide-angle lens with an aperture of f/2.0, and a telephoto lens with an aperture of f/2.4.

The aperture has not changed. But the telephoto lens now has optical image stabilization. The same goes for the 10-megapixel camera on the cover.

But the camera on the Galaxy Z Fold 3's home screen has changed a lot. It went from a punch-hole selfie camera to a 4MP sub-screen camera. The company said it is suitable for Zoom calls and other video conferencing.

For the S Pen, the stylus can work on the 7.6-inch main screen. The company has also developed a special foldable version of the S Pen that covers all bases. It also supports the more expensive S Pen Pro and adds air gestures and some Bluetooth tricks.

The S Pen Pro has a toggle switch that you can toggle when using the stylus with other company equipment. And they seem to be using a different frequency than the Z Fold 3.

Both compatible buttons have a specially designed retractable tip that limits the force you can exert on the device's screen.

With the new Lab function in Settings, you can put any app into a split screen or popup view while multitasking.

You can also adjust the aspect ratio of the application. The company said it has improved multitasking gestures and promises to be a more consistent and intuitive experience. You can now permanently attach the edge panel to one side of the screen.

The phone is available for pre-order today and comes in three colors: black, green and silver. This foldable flagship will be launched on August 27 along with the Galaxy Z Flip 3, Galaxy Buds 2 and two new smartwatches revealed by the company today.
