Why is Starlink building a satellite base in the Irish Sea?

Starlink was founded in 2015 by Elon Musk. The company is committed to providing Internet services from space via satellite.

It has set up a ground station on a self-contained island in the Irish Sea to broadcast Internet communications from satellites in low Earth orbit. In other words, it is used in homes and offices.

The island on which the station operates is called the Isle of Man, and the government said Starlink previously worked with a local telecoms provider called BlueWave.

Land base on the Isle of Man

BlueWave has a land base near Douglas, the capital of the Isle of Man. He bought it from SES Satellite Leasing last year, and the company left the island this summer.

The site has four to eight weather protection systems on one side and a radar antenna on the other, which is responsible for transmitting and receiving data.

Since Mann is an island completely surrounded by water, this makes it easy to receive and send where there are no obstacles. This is when the Internet is launched to customers. The island covers an area of 572 square kilometers and is owned by the British royal family. It is also surrounded by Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales.

As you can deduce, the ground station is designed to distribute the Internet in these countries and regions, according to CNBC sources, the Isle of Man is easier to obtain operating licenses from neighboring countries.

In addition, the island has lower taxes compared to neighboring countries and a different spectral range than the one on which Britain depends. The island has a population of only 85,000 while the United Kingdom has a population of 70 million.

What is starlink?

Starlink is one of Elon Musk's many companies. The main objective of its creation is to provide fast and reliable internet via satellite to the world.

Starlink technology allows access to the Internet through a receiver called a shower. It also uses a satellite network owned by Starlink and operated by SpaceX, another Elon Musk space exploration company, to broadcast the Internet in that shower room.

Customer purchased this shower and other equipment required for Internet access while subscribing to Starlink.

The company will spend $10 billion to build its network. It does this by distributing 12,000 satellites into low Earth orbit. To date, the company has successfully deployed 1,700 satellites. Served 90,000 clients from 12 countries.
