Xabi Lam has become the most followed tik tok star in the world

Senegalese content creator Xabi Lam, 22, is the most followed person on TikTok, surpassing American platform star Charlie D'Amelio, who has held the title since 2020.

After a long struggle that lasted several months, he reached 142.5 million followers, already surpassing the followers of Diamilio. Italy-based Lamm now has more than 143.2 million followers, while De Amelio has 142.4 million followers.

Lamm is known to use the Duet and Stitch feature to respond to clips where people make simple tasks difficult for no reason through his silent videos where he does the same tasks in a simple way.

Lin now mainly publishes comedy and has received millions of views and likes. His fans have been growing since last year and fans have been working to elevate him to the top in recent weeks.

The rise of Ram and the fall of Diamiglio are significant. Di Amelio and his sister Dixie are central figures in TikTok in building a comprehensive media brand.

They quickly rose to fame with second long dance videos, confusing people who weren't on TikTok and inspiring millions of followers to try the same. The sisters earned about $27.5 million last year.

Mr. Lin joined the platform in 2020 after being laid off from the factory. Since then, celebrities have met, been invited to events, and struck endorsement deals with Hugo Boss.

In 2020, Ram worked as a machine operator at a factory in Turin. He was laid off and unemployed as the pandemic drained Italy early on. After that, he started shooting videos because he was bored and unemployed during the quarantine.

Mr. Lin's simple videos resonated well with viewers and quickly gained tens, hundreds, thousands and even millions of subscribers. As Lynn's following grew, his followers launched a campaign to propel him to the top of TikTok by creating the hashtag #KhabyToNumberOne.

The Senegalese comedian became the most talked about star on Tik Tok

His fame went beyond the phone screen. He met celebrities such as singers Ed Sheeran and Lionel Messi, as well as a number of professional footballers.

He was a special guest at the Venice Film Festival in 2021, on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival in 2022 and earlier this year at the Hugo Boss #BeYourOwnBoss event after signing at home.

Lin's rise as the most popular character on the platform is noted due to the questions that users have previously raised on the platform about how it treats non-white, especially black, creators.

In response to allegations that the TikTok algorithm is removing black content creators, the company has pledged to take action in 2020, including offering various consultations and donations to nonprofits that help the black community.

Last year, some black creators went on an informal strike, refusing to create dances that could disproportionately benefit white creators.
