What more to expect from the upcoming Google Pixel 2 watch

Google launched its first smartwatch, the Pixel Watch, along with the Pixel 7 late last year, which enables several features. Available for Fitbit and Google Pixel smartwatch users. On the other hand, the battery life, which is only 24 hours, was criticized.

For now, we expect a new version of the Google Pixel smartwatch (Pixel Watch 2) to come with better features to continue being a strong competitor in the smartwatch market.

Here are Google's top expectations for the Pixel Watch 2:

What is the Google Pixel Watch 2 release date?

The most popular smartwatches release new models every year, such as the Apple Watch and Galaxy Watch, and we'll likely see Google take the same approach as it releases a new generation of smartwatches every year.

There are many possibilities, and the biggest possibility is that the Pixel Watch 2 will be launched at the same time as the first generation, in October. And based on the fact that Google released the Pixel Watch alongside the Pixel 7, the Pixel 8 is expected to launch alongside the Pixel Watch 2 in the fall of 2023.

What features can we expect from the Pixel Watch 2?

design:

The beauty of the Pixel Watch's design is one of the things that makes this watch even more desirable. Google should not change the design. For the most part, the Pixel Watch 2 will feature a rounded design and possibly narrower bezels with a rotating side button (Digital Crown), as we'd expect with the same or better durability specs, and of course the Pixel Watch 2 will always be running Wear OS.

Health and fitness tracking features:

So far, all indications are that the Fitbit suite and companion app will continue to integrate, so basic stat-tracking tools like steps, calories, and heart rate should also be available. Continued support for Fitbit sleep tracking and other additional tools and features for Fitbit Premium subscribers.

It will likely keep the built-in GPS, accelerometer, compass, gyro sensor, optical heart rate sensor, ECG app, as well as the SpO2 sensor.

What is the expected price of the Pixel Watch 2?

The Pixel Watch starts at $349, 99 cents for the (Bluetooth/Wi-Fi) model and $399, 99 cents for the (4G LTE + Bluetooth/Wi-Fi) model.

This is average compared to the prices of other smartwatches released late last year, such as the Apple Watch Series 8 and Galaxy Watch 5. The Galaxy Watch 5 starts at $154 and 99 cents, while the Apple Watch Series 8 starts at $399.

The price of the second generation Pixel Watch should be the same or very close to the first generation. If a company adds multiple sizes, the price may also vary by size.

Features we want to see in the Pixel Watch 2

What more to expect from the upcoming Google Pixel 2 watch

Here are the main features we plan to add to the second generation Pixel Watch:

Better battery life:

The Pixel Watch's battery life isn't ideal, and the watch only runs for 24 hours, which isn't practical, especially for those interested in tracking sleep.

Also, the Pixel Watch is not compatible with Qi-certified chargers, and you cannot use reverse wireless charging from a Pixel phone.

Improvements in battery life and compatibility with different chargers will give the Pixel Watch 2 a huge boost.

Health and fitness tracking improvements:

With Fitbit integration, the Pixel Watch provides the average user with a good health and fitness tracking experience. On the other hand, its price is high enough to get a more powerful feature set. Comparatively priced smartwatches offer more advanced tools like temperature sensors, continuous SpO2 (blood oxygen levels) monitoring, and detailed and accurate exercise data.

Plus, brands like Apple, Samsung, and Garmin are constantly adding new health and fitness tracking features, and more. So it's good to see more developments in the Pixel Watch 2's health and fitness tracking capabilities

Add a new size and color:

The Google Pixel Watch measures 41mm and there is expected to be a larger model this year. For example: 44mm, this size is very suitable for those who like to wear large watches.

The current generation is only available in Champagne Gold, Matte Black, or Polished Silver, and Google is expected to offer more color options on the second-generation watch.
