China launches Tiangong electric robot

The Beijing Human Machinery Innovation Center has launched Tiangong, a humanoid robot that can walk like a human and reach a speed of 6 kilometers per hour. This was done in conjunction with the launch of several technological developments in the field of artificial intelligence at the 2024 Zhongguancun Forum.

Tiangong is described as the world's first large-scale robot capable of running solely on electric motors.

This is a significant development in robotics, and Tiangong is the world's first all-electric robot to achieve this feat.

Tiangong can maintain a constant speed of 6 kilometers per hour. It is a self-developed human robotic platform that is ready for widespread use in industry.

Tiangong is 163cm tall and weighs 43kg. It has a lightweight design and works stably.

The humanoid robot uses multiple visual perception sensors, a high-precision inertial measurement unit (IMU) and 3D vision sensors to effectively navigate its environment.

In addition, the robot is equipped with a high-precision 6D force sensor for accurate force feedback.

Tiangong has a computing power of 550 trillion operations per second, and uses a new method to learn the motor capabilities of humanoid robots called "imitation learning and prediction enhancement based on state memory."

This method plays an essential role in the normal operation of the robot.

Developers emphasize Tiangong's openness and compatibility, allowing open communication interfaces and flexible expansion of software, hardware, and other functional modules.

This adaptability ensures that the robot can be used in different application scenarios.

Tiangong successfully overcomes slopes and stairs, even without visual input, demonstrating its ability to adapt to changing environments.

It also shows agility by adjusting its gait when encountering obstacles or uneven terrain.
