TCL launches a smart TV with a giant screen

TCL has launched the giant-screen Thunderbird 100MAX 2024 smart TV with a 540-zone backlight system and ad-free settings.

An ad-free setting means that the TV is factory set and ads are removed.

The TCL Thunderbird 100MAX 2024 features a 100-inch display, joining a growing list of previously released large-screen TVs.

The Thunderbird 100MAX focuses on value for money, although it is more expensive than the previously released Redmi MAX 100 2025 model.

Compared to the Redmi MAX 100 2025 model, this TV has a noticeably improved configuration. It uses a 100-inch display with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels, a 144Hz refresh rate, a 540-segment backlight and a brightness of up to 120 nits.

The Thunderbird 100MAX 2024 features a dynamic contrast ratio of 12,000,000:1 and covers up to 95% of the DCI-P3 color space.

The TV also features an enhanced audio output and a 50W 7-unit sound system consisting of 4 widebands, 2 tweeters and 1 subwoofer.

The Redmi MAX 100 2025 comes with only four speakers, allowing the TCL model to offer better audio performance.

Additionally, TCL's large-screen TVs are not factory-set to show ads, unlike the Redmi MAX 100 2025 model, which requires adjustments to stop ads.

The Thunderbird 100MAX 2024 features MediaTek's MT9653 chipset, 4GB of RAM, and 128GB of internal storage.

In addition to WiFi 6.0, the TV also supports Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity and has two HDMI 2.1 ports, two HDMI 2.0 ports, an AV input, a USB-A 3.0 port, and a USB-A 2.0 port. The Thunderbird 100MAX 2024 also offers a single RJ45 interface.

TCL's new big-screen TV is available on retail platforms like JD.com for around $1,525.
