Assassin’s Creed Shadows Multiplayer Mode and Maps Leaked in Datamine Bombshell

A surprise revelation has shaken the Assassin’s Creed community after prominent dataminer Totocko97 uncovered hidden details about a multiplayer mode and maps in the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The findings, sourced from early game files, suggest Ubisoft may be reviving multiplayer elements in the franchise after a decade-long hiatus.

According to a report by Insider Gaming, the leaked mode, tentatively titled “Shadow Warfare,” will pit two teams of four players against each other in objective-based stealth battles. Players will reportedly choose from distinct classes like RoninShinobi, and Onmyoji, each offering unique abilities tied to combat, reconnaissance, or supernatural skills. The mode allegedly emphasizes teamwork, with maps designed for verticality and environmental traps reminiscent of classic Assassin’s Creed multiplayer.

Datamined maps include sprawling renditions of Kyoto’s bustling streetsEdo Castle’s fortified corridors, and the frostbitten wilderness of Hokkaido. Totocko97 shared snippets of the findings on X/Twitter, highlighting code references to dynamic weather and time-of-day cycles impacting gameplay.

While Ubisoft has yet to confirm the leaks, fans speculate the multiplayer component could tie into the game’s expansion pass, which promises post-launch content spanning new story arcs and regions. The base game, already confirmed to launch with a massive open-world feudal Japan, is rumored to include multiplayer at release. A GSM Go Tech article from March 2025 further claims the mode will debut alongside the game, though Ubisoft has remained silent on timelines.

This isn’t Totocko97’s first rodeo—the dataminer accurately revealed details about Assassin’s Creed Valhalla DLC prior to official announcements. However, skepticism remains, as Ubisoft shelved multiplayer after 2014’s Unity due to technical challenges.

Community reactions are split. Purists argue multiplayer distracts from the series’ narrative roots, while others welcome the return of social stealth mechanics. “If it’s anything like Brotherhood’s multiplayer but with better tech, I’m sold,” tweeted user @HiddenBladeFan.

With Ubisoft’s official showcase set for June 2025, all eyes are on whether Shadows will indeed resurrect multiplayer—or if this leak is merely a decoy in the Animus. Stay tuned.
