Techland has stepped in to clear the air after confusion swirled among Dying Light 2 fans about access to the newly announced "The Beast" DLC. In a community update today, the studio confirmed that "Dying Light: The Beast" will be automatically available at no extra cost to all owners of the Dying Light 2 Ultimate Edition.
The clarification comes after some players expressed uncertainty about whether the high-octane expansion—teased with a cinematic trailer showcasing brutal new mutations—was included in their existing Ultimate Edition bundles. Techland emphasized that Ultimate Edition buyers, who invested in the game’s premium tier at launch, won’t need to open their wallets again.

Dying Light: The Beast - Official Overview
The DLC promises to plunge players deeper into the nightmarish world of Villedor with a focus on grotesque, evolved Infected dubbed "Beasts." While details remain sparse, early hints suggest new parkour challenges, weaponry, and a narrative thread exploring the origins of these monstrosities.
Notably, the Ultimate Edition of Dying Light 2 originally included a "Season Pass" covering two major story DLCs. The first, "Bloody Ties," launched in 2022. "The Beast" now marks the second—and seemingly final—promised expansion, fulfilling Techland’s commitment to Ultimate Edition owners. Standard and Deluxe Edition players will need to purchase the DLC separately.
Community reaction has been largely relieved, though some fans questioned the timing of the clarification. "We want to ensure everyone knows what’s coming to them," a Techland rep stated. "Ultimate Edition supporters get this chapter as a thank-you for their trust."
"The Beast" is expected to launch later this year. For now, survivors can revisit the decaying urban jungle or brace for the hunt ahead—knowing the beast won’t cost them extra if they went all-in from the start.
