Samsung Streamlines Future Lineups: Galaxy S26 and Tab S11 to Drop Two Models

Samsung is poised for a significant product shakeup, with insider sources revealing that its 2026 flagship launches—the Galaxy S26 smartphone series and Tab S11 tablet range—will discontinue two long-standing models. The move signals a strategic pivot toward simplifying offerings amid fierce competition and shifting consumer demands.

According to leaks circulating on Chinese social media, Samsung will retire the Galaxy S26 FE (Fan Edition) and Tab S11 Lite, consolidating resources around premium-tier devices. The decision follows lukewarm sales of mid-range variants in 2024–2025, with analysts noting that buyers increasingly gravitate toward either budget A-series devices or ultra-premium Ultra models.

"Samsung’s ‘FE’ and ‘Lite’ lines blurred the brand’s premium identity," said tech analyst Ming-Chi Guo. "This consolidation lets them double down on innovation for the S26 Ultra and Tab S11 Ultra—especially in AI and foldable hybrids."

A now-viral Weibo post from industry leaker @FutureTech_China details the overhaul, citing supply chain sources:

The revamped Galaxy S26 lineup will reportedly feature three core models:

  • S26 (6.1-inch display, Exynos 2500/Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chips)
  • S26+ (6.7-inch, upgraded thermal cooling)
  • S26 Ultra (6.8-inch, titanium frame, "Galaxy AI 2.0")

Similarly, the Tab S11 series will now launch just two variants:

  • Tab S11 (11-inch LCD, 5G optional)
  • Tab S11 Ultra (14.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 3X, under-display camera)

Why the Change?

Samsung’s shift responds to three critical pressures:

  1. Profit Margins: FE/Lite devices delivered thinner margins amid rising component costs.

  2. Apple’s Push: The rumored "iPhone SE 4" targets Samsung’s mid-flagship niche.

  3. Consumer Fatigue: Overlapping features between FE/Ultra models confused buyers.

Pre-order interest for current-gen devices hints at the market’s direction. Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra pre-orders outpaced the S25 FE 3:1 globally, while Tab S10 Ultra sales dwarfed the Lite version:

What’s Next?

With FE/Lite lines axed, Samsung may:

  • Expand Galaxy Z Fold/Flip releases to absorb mid-tier demand.
  • Boost A-series capabilities (e.g., A35 5G to inherit S26 FE’s chipset).
  • Invest savings into "Neo QLED" tablets with hybrid laptop functionality.

The Galaxy S26 and Tab S11 are expected to debut at Unpacked 2026 next February. For now, Samsung remains tight-lipped—but the message is clear: Fewer devices, sharper focus.
