Vivo TWS 5 Earbuds Launch with Groundbreaking 60dB Noise Cancellation and Hi-Fi Audio Prowess

In a significant move to dominate the personal audio space, Vivo has officially unveiled the TWS 5, its next-generation true wireless earbuds. Launched alongside a suite of new products, including smartphones and the Vivo Watch GT 2, the TWS 5 earbuds are positioned as a major leap forward from their 2022 predecessors, the TWS 3. Packing a serious punch with industry-leading active noise cancellation, high-resolution audio support, and a unique three-device connectivity feature, Vivo is making a compelling case for audiophiles and multi-taskers alike.

For now, the Vivo TWS 5 is launching in the Chinese market, with global availability details yet to be announced.

Design, Durability, and a Hi-Fi Twist

The Vivo TWS 5 sports a modern, angled in-ear design with a familiar protruding stem that likely houses microphones and touch controls. Each earbud is built with an IP54 rating, making them resistant to dust and water splashes, perfect for workouts and commutes. At the heart of their acoustic system is an 11mm dynamic driver coupled with a high-performance ceramic tungsten acoustic diaphragm, promising rich and detailed sound from a compact, glossy-finished body.

Intriguingly, Vivo is offering the TWS 5 in two distinct flavors: a standard edition and a premium Hi-Fi version. You can explore the official specifications for both models on Vivo's Chinese website: Vivo TWS 5 Hi-Fi and the standard Vivo TWS 5.

An Audiophile's Dream: LDAC, LHDC, and Expert Tuning

Vivo has left no stone unturned in its quest for superior sound quality. Both TWS 5 versions have been acoustically tuned through a collaboration between the prestigious Shanghai Conservatory of Music and Vivo's own Golden Ear acoustics team. They both carry the coveted Hi-Res Audio certification and support the high-bitrate LDAC codec, ensuring minimal loss of audio quality over Bluetooth.

Where the Hi-Fi version truly separates itself is with the addition of support for LHDC 5.0, a codec known for its efficient, high-quality audio transmission. Vivo also revealed a strategic partnership with MediaTek, ensuring optimized LHDC lossless playback on smartphones powered by MediaTek's Dimensity processors. Industry-Leading 60dB Adaptive ANC and Clever Features

One of the headline features of the Vivo TWS 5 is its powerful active noise cancellation (ANC), which both the standard and Hi-Fi versions share. Boasting up to 60dB of noise-canceling depth, this adaptive system allows users to switch between three different ANC levels to suit their environment, effectively silencing everything from the hum of an airplane cabin to the chatter of a busy office.

For crystal-clear calls, each earbud is equipped with four microphones that utilize AI call noise reduction, capable of blocking out up to 99% of wind noise. Gamers aren't left out, thanks to a low-latency mode that brings delay down to just 42ms.

The feature set is rounded out by immersive Spatial Audio, 10 bands of customizable EQ for personalized sound, live translation capabilities, and touch controls. A particularly smart feature is Adaptive Audio, which automatically tailors the playback to the unique shape of the user's ear canal for a consistently optimal listening experience.

Bluetooth Multipoint on Steroid: Connect to THREE Devices

While the earbuds utilize Bluetooth 5.4 LE and not the newly announced Bluetooth 6.0, Vivo has implemented a connectivity feature that many rivals lack: simultaneous connection to three devices. This trumps the standard two-device multipoint found on most premium earbuds, allowing users to seamlessly switch between, for example, a laptop, a phone, and a tablet without manual re-pairing. This functionality even extends to Apple products.

The integration goes beyond simple audio switching. When paired with a compatible smartwatch like the imminent iQOO Watch GT 2, the TWS 5 can notify users of incoming calls and messages, even reading them aloud. It can also provide alerts if it detects a high heart rate, adding a layer of health awareness.

Battery Life and Pricing

The Vivo TWS 5 offers solid battery performance. With ANC activated, you can expect up to 6 hours of playback from the earbuds, extending to a total of 24 hours with the charging case. Turning ANC off doubles these figures, offering a impressive 12 hours from the buds and 48 hours in total with the case.

The standard Vivo TWS 5 is available in Simple White, Pure Black, and Slightly Smoky Purple for a price of CNY 399 (approximately $56 or €48). The premium TWS 5 Hi-Fi Version comes in Simple White and Deep Sea Blue at a cost of CNY 499 (approximately $70 or €61).

With their combination of top-tier noise cancellation, hi-fi audio credentials, and best-in-class multi-device connectivity, the Vivo TWS 5 earbuds are shaping up to be a formidable contender in the crowded TWS market. All eyes are now on Vivo to announce a global release date.
