The rumor mill is already churning for Apple’s 2026 product lineup, and a prominent analyst has provided one of the most detailed roadmaps yet for what consumers can expect. Jeff Pu, a well-regarded voice in Apple supply chain analysis, has shed new light on the tech giant's potential strategy for the spring of 2026, painting a picture of a significant refresh focused on more accessible devices.

According to a detailed report from MacRumors, Pu's latest research note suggests that Apple is preparing to launch three key products in a major spring 2026 rollout. This would include a next-generation budget iPhone, a new low-cost MacBook, and an updated entry-level iPad, all aimed at capturing the value-conscious segment of the market.

The iPhone 17e: A Meaningful Step Up from the iPhone 16e

Aligning with earlier whispers, Pu believes Apple will use this period to replace the anticipated iPhone 16e with the iPhone 17e. This isn't just a simple annual refresh, however. The analyst, Jeff Pu, outlines three key areas where the 17e will distinguish itself from its predecessor.

Citing Pu's research, MacRumors reports that the iPhone 17e is expected to join the standard iPhone 17 model in two significant upgrades: the adoption of a more advanced 18 MP Center Stage front-facing camera and a move to the next-generation Apple A19 system-on-a-chip (SoC). Perhaps most notably, the budget-friendly 17e is also said to be equipped with Apple's in-house C1 modem, a move that would signify a major step in Apple's component independence.

This triple-threat of upgrades suggests Apple is serious about making its most affordable iPhone model more compelling, closing the feature gap that typically exists between its base and "e" series devices.

The Budget MacBook and iPad: Strategic Upgrades and Necessary Compromises

Beyond the iPhone, Pu's vision for spring 2026 includes a global release for two other long-rumored products: a truly budget-friendly MacBook and the 12th-generation iPad.

The update for the iPad (12th Gen) is projected to be a more focused one. Pu expects the primary change to be the inclusion of the A18 SoC, a notable jump from the A16 Bionic chip found in the current 11th-generation model. What About the MacBook Air?

The absence of the MacBook Air in Pu's report does not necessarily mean M5-powered refreshes have been delayed. For context, Apple has established a pattern of releasing new 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models just before the start of spring in the northern hemisphere. For instance, the current 13-inch MacBook Air starts at $949 on Amazon.

Therefore, it's entirely plausible that we could see new MacBook Air models with the M5 chip arriving in early March 2026, with this new, cheaper MacBook joining the lineup later in the spring as a new, entry-tier option.
