If you’ve been holding off on buying a new vlogging camera, you might want to wait a few more months. Strong evidence is mounting that DJI is preparing to launch the Osmo Pocket 4, the successor to the wildly popular Pocket 3, potentially before the year is out.

While DJI has remained officially silent about a replacement for the current Osmo Pocket 3 (currently $528 on Amazon), a series of leaks have painted a surprisingly clear picture of what’s coming next. The latest and most convincing glimpse comes from known leaker Igor Bogdanov.

A Clearer Look Emerges

Bogdanov recently shared brief but revealing footage of the unreleased device on X, explicitly labeling it the Osmo Pocket 4. The short clip, while lacking detailed commentary, allows for several key observations about DJI's next-generation pocket gimbal camera.

Key Design and Hardware Upgrades

The leak suggests a notable evolution in design and capability:

  1. Larger Housing & Dual Camera System: The most significant takeaway is the visibly larger camera module. This aligns with earlier rumors and strongly suggests DJI has integrated a dual-camera setup. This could allow for new shooting modes, such as switching between sensors optimized for different focal lengths—a major upgrade for creative flexibility.
  2. New Gimbal Mechanism: To handle the presumed weight of a second sensor and the larger housing, DJI appears to have redesigned the gimbal arm. The leak shows an offset arm mechanism, a departure from the centered design of the Pocket 3. This engineering change would ensure the device remains balanced and stable.
  3. Refined Physical Design: Beyond the core gimbal, several other tweaks are visible. The unit looks slightly taller, and there are new hardware buttons on the body, which could mean quicker access to settings or modes. Furthermore, the leak appears to show the return of a rotatable display, a feature from the Pocket 2 that users missed on the fixed-screen Pocket 3.
  4. Bigger Battery: According to accompanying reports from leakers, these hardware enhancements will be powered by a battery roughly 20% larger than the one in the Osmo Pocket 3. If true, this would directly address a common wishlist item for longer shooting sessions.

What We Don’t Know Yet

While the design is coming into focus, crucial details remain under wraps. Official pricing, full availability, and exact release date are still unknown. More importantly, the complete spec list—including sensor sizes, video resolution capabilities (8K?), and new software features—is still the subject of speculation. DJI’s signature active track subject following and other intelligent modes are sure to see upgrades, but to what extent is unclear.

Should You Wait for the Osmo Pocket 4?

For current Osmo Pocket 3 owners, the leaked changes appear evolutionary rather than revolutionary. The dual-camera system is the standout potential upgrade. For everyone else, especially those considering the excellent Osmo Pocket 3, the decision comes down to timing and need.

The existing model is a proven, incredibly capable device. However, if a dual-camera system and longer battery life are priorities for your vlogging or content creation, the rumors suggest the Osmo Pocket 4 could be worth the wait. As always, until DJI makes an official announcement, treat all leaks with cautious optimism.
