| The Xiaomi Buds 6 is now available in China |
In a packed event in Beijing, Xiaomi didn't just focus on its flagship phones. The tech giant also took the wraps off its latest audio offering, the Xiaomi Buds 6, aiming to redefine the semi-in-ear experience with premium sound tech borrowed from the industry's best.
While the spotlight also shone on the camera-centric Xiaomi 17 Ultra and its Leica Edition sibling, the new Buds 6 represent a significant stride in the company's wearable audio journey. Positioned as a direct successor to the popular Buds 5, this iteration focuses heavily on acoustic engineering and seamless connectivity.
Familiar Design, Revolutionary Sound Inside
At first glance, the Buds 6 retain the comfortable, stem-style half-in-ear design that has become a signature. The real magic, however, is hidden within. The headline feature is the integration of Qualcomm Snapdragon Sound, which brings aptX Lossless support to the table. This codec boasts a staggering bitrate of up to 2.1 Mbps—surpassing even Sony's renowned LDAC—promising true CD-quality, wireless audio without compression.
Powering this high-resolution feed is a new driver architecture. Xiaomi employs a triple-magnet driver system coupled with a 24K gold-plated diaphragm. The company claims this sophisticated combo increases high-frequency sensitivity by 30%, resulting in crisper highs and a more robust, well-defined bass response.
Tuned by the Golden Ears of Harman
Beyond the hardware, Xiaomi has collaborated with audio experts to perfect the sound signature. The Buds 6 are professionally tuned by Harman's Golden Ear Team. Users can switch between multiple audio profiles, including a specialized Harman Audio EFX mode for a balanced, reference-like sound and a Master mode for a more immersive, dynamic experience.
Noise handling is also top-tier. The earbuds feature adaptive Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) to quiet the outside world, and a three-microphone array with AI-driven algorithms tackles wind and ambient noise during calls, capable of suppressing up to 95 dB of background clamor.
All-Day Battery and Smart Features
Practicality hasn't been overlooked. A single charge delivers up to 6 hours of playback (with ANC off), extending to a total of 35 hours with the sleek charging case, which houses a 475 mAh battery. The buds are rated IP54 for sweat and splash resistance.
Smart connectivity is a given, with Bluetooth 5.4, dual-device pairing, and even support for Apple's Find My network. For users in Europe looking for an early purchase option, the previous generation Buds 5 are currently available on Amazon.de. You can check their price and specifications here.
The Xiaomi Buds 6 will be available in four elegant colors: Pearl White, Titanium Gold, Moon Shadow Black, and Nebula Purple. They are priced at CNY 699 (approximately $99) and are now available for purchase in China via the official Mi Store.
With their focus on lossless audio codecs, expert tuning, and robust features, the Xiaomi Buds 6 are poised to be a compelling choice for audiophiles who prefer the comfort of a semi-in-ear design.
