Amazfit’s Bip 6 smartwatch (pictured) is receiving BioCharge and other new features in an update.

Owners of the budget-friendly Amazfit Bip 6 smartwatch have a significant new software update rolling out to their devices. Following the feature-packed update from October 2025, the latest firmware, version 3.8.0.1, is now hitting wrists, bringing a notable new health metric, expanded third-party support, and fresh workout modes.

The headline addition for many fitness enthusiasts is the introduction of the BioCharge energy level metric. This new feature replaces the older "Readiness" score and is designed to offer a more comprehensive look at your body’s capacity for exertion. By analyzing your sleep, activity, and heart rate data, BioCharge aims to help you decide the optimal time for a strenuous workout or a recovery day, potentially helping to avoid overtraining.

However, some early adopters on forums like Reddit have reported a hiccup with this flagship feature. A number of users with earlier production units have found the BioCharge metric missing entirely after installing the update. This appears to be a known hardware-related issue. On a Reddit thread discussing the problem, users have been advised to contact Amazfit support directly to inquire about a potential replacement for affected devices.

Beyond BioCharge, the Amazfit Bip 6 update 3.8.0.1 significantly boosts the watch’s appeal for serious athletes with new integration options. The watch now supports direct data sync with popular training platforms like Training Peaks and Intervals.icu, making it easier to incorporate the Bip 6 into a structured coaching plan. Furthermore, runners can now connect a Stryd running power meter directly to the watch for advanced performance metrics.

For activity tracking, Amazfit has added an Indoor Rock Climbing workout mode, catering to a growing sport. The ever-important Sleep Score algorithm has also been optimized for what the company states is enhanced accuracy and insight. A small but welcome usability tweak allows for a new customizable shortcut assigned to a double-press of the lower button, letting you quick-launch your most-used function.

As is typical with these rollouts, the update is being released in phases. It’s unclear how long it will take for version 3.8.0.1 to reach all Amazfit Bip 6 users globally. When it does arrive in your region, you can download it via the Zepp app on your connected smartphone.

The Amazfit Bip 6 (currently priced at $64.99 on Amazon) continues to punch above its weight class, and this update adds substantial value for its price point, reinforcing its position as one of the best budget smartwatches for fitness tracking.
