| The new Asus ProArt PX13 contains a few design tweaks over last year's model. |
LAS VEGAS – The whispers were only half right. After teasing a rugged refresh over the holidays, Asus has taken the wraps off not one, but three new models of its creator-focused ProArt PX13 laptop at CES 2026 this week. While the eye-catching ProArt PX13 GoPro Edition is indeed real, it’s joined by two other standard models, all boasting a significant generational leap in processing power under the hood.
The reveal, part of Asus’s broader CES 2026 showcase, shifts focus from last year’s Ryzen AI 9 HX 370-powered models (still available at around $1,899 on Amazon) to a new era of silicon. Unfortunately, aspiring buyers will need to wait a bit longer, as Asus has not yet announced official pricing or a firm release date for the new lineup.
The Heart of the Upgrade: AMD Ryzen AI Max Processors
Arguably the most transformative change for the ProArt PX13 series is buried inside the sleek, magnesium-aluminum chassis. Asus is equipping the 2026 models with AMD’s next-generation Ryzen AI Max 385 and Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processors from the highly anticipated Strix Halo series.
This move represents a substantial spec bump. Paired with generous 32 GB, 64 GB, or even 128 GB of fast LPDDR5X RAM, these new chips promise to deliver a notable increase in both CPU and GPU performance over their predecessors. For video editors, 3D artists, and designers, this translates to faster rendering, smoother playback of high-resolution timelines, and more headroom for complex creative applications.
Familiar Form, More Rugged Flair
Despite the internal overhaul, Asus has kept the successful core design of the ProArt PX13 intact. The weight remains a highly portable 1.38 kg (approx. 3.04 lbs), and the company continues to include a 73 Wh battery with support for speedy 130 W USB Type-C charging.
The display also sees no major changes, for better or worse. The 13.3-inch, 2.8K (2880 x 1800) OLED panel returns with its excellent color accuracy and deep blacks, but it remains capped at a 60 Hz refresh rate and 400 nits of peak brightness. While sufficient for color-critical work, some creators may miss the higher refresh rates becoming common elsewhere.
The star of the show for adventurers is the ProArt PX13 GoPro Edition. It takes the proven formula and adds a dramatically more ruggedized exterior, designed to withstand the knocks of life on the go. A dedicated keyboard shortcut instantly launches a pre-installed GoPro Player application, streamlining the workflow for creators who film with GoPro cameras. Asus sweetens the deal by including a 12-month subscription to GoPro’s Premium Plus service, which offers cloud storage, premium editing features, and unlimited device replacement.

The Bottom Line for Creators
With the 2026 ProArt PX13 series, Asus is refining a proven concept rather than reinventing it. The strategic decision to jump to AMD's Strix Halo platform provides the serious performance lift that power users crave, while maintaining the excellent portability and build quality that define the line.
The introduction of the GoPro Edition cleverly expands the laptop’s appeal to a niche of on-the-move content creators, offering tangible added value. The big question mark remains price. If Asus can position these new models competitively, especially the standard configurations, they could become a formidable option in the crowded creator laptop space. Until then, the previous generation remains a solid, and now potentially more discounted, choice for those needing a machine today.
