| The AYN Odin 2 has reached the end of its product life. |
In a move that marks the end of an era for handheld gaming enthusiasts, AYN has officially discontinued its popular Odin 2 handheld. The device, which launched to strong reviews in the latter half of 2023, has been phased out following the release of its successor, the Odin 3, last year.
The announcement came via an official post on the company's Discord channel. According to the notice, the Odin 2 is no longer available for purchase through the official AYN website. Curiously, while the handheld still appears on the site's homepage at the time of writing, clicking on its listing results in an Error 404 page—a digital ghost of a product that has now entered the company's history books.
Software Support Future Unclear
AYN did not specify whether the discontinuation of the Odin 2 also means an end to ongoing software and firmware support for the device. This leaves current owners in a wait-and-see mode regarding future updates and optimizations. The Odin 2 launched with robust specs for its time, featuring a 6-inch 1080p LCD display, a powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, configurations of up to 16GB of RAM, and up to 512GB of expandable storage, all powered by a substantial 8,000mAh battery.

Odin 2 Portal Steps into the Spotlight with Limited-Time Sale
As one door closes, another opens. Simultaneous with the Odin 2's farewell, AYN has kicked off a limited-time sale on the Odin 2 Portal, the 2024 iteration of the device. This sale, which runs now through February 25th, significantly drops the price on all Portal models, making it a compelling option for gamers looking for high-performance emulation and cloud gaming.
The discounts are as follows:
- Odin 2 Portal Base (8GB + 128GB): Now $249, down from $329.
- Odin 2 Portal Pro (12GB + 256GB): Now $369, down from $399.
- Odin 2 Portal Max (16GB + 512GB): Now $449, down from $499—a $50 discount.
You can check out all the discounted models directly on the AYN official website.
A New Competitive Landscape
This aggressive pricing on the Odin 2 Portal throws it into direct competition with other handhelds in the segment, most notably the Retroid Pocket 6. Both devices share the same capable Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. However, the Odin 2 Portal fights back with a larger 7-inch 120Hz AMOLED display and its signature 8,000mAh battery. The Retroid Pocket 6 base model starts at $229 but comes with a smaller 5.5-inch 120Hz AMOLED screen and a 6,000mAh battery.
For gamers who prioritize screen real estate and maximum battery life for extended play sessions, the discounted Odin 2 Portal now presents a fierce value proposition. The sale window is short, however, so interested buyers have until February 25 to decide.
