Casio has just pulled back the curtain on one of its most anticipated timepieces, officially opening preorders in Japan for the new MTG-B4000D-1AJF. This latest model marks a significant evolution in the brand's premium MT-G collection, serving as a direct follow-up to the recently launched MTG-B4000 series. After surfacing in rumors and leaks, the watch now has a confirmed launch window of January 2026 and carries a premium price tag of ¥187,000 (approximately $1,192), firmly placing it in the upper echelon of G-Shock's rugged yet refined offerings.
The centerpiece of the MTG-B4000D is undoubtedly its advanced, layered construction. Casio has evolved its renowned dual-core guard structure, pairing a shock-absorbing carbon fiber reinforced resin frame with a rigid stainless steel exterior. This isn't just a monobloc case; exploded diagrams from Casio reveal a sophisticated architecture where the carbon frame, bezel, and caseback operate as distinct structural elements. The goal? To offer unparalleled protection by letting each material do what it does best: the carbon manages shocks, while the metal shell ensures overall durability and a premium feel.

This "hybrid" philosophy impressively extends to the metal bracelet. At first glance, it appears to be fully stainless steel, but Casio notes it employs a layered composite structure. By integrating reinforced resin components within the metal links, the brand aims to strike a balance between robust aesthetics, impact resistance, and weight management. Despite this effort, the watch tips the scales at 178 grams, presenting a substantial, confident presence on the wrist.
Dimensionally, the MTG-B4000D measures 56.6 × 45.3 × 14.4 mm and boasts a professional-grade 200-meter water resistance rating. It’s packed with Casio's top-tier tech, including Tough Solar charging and Multi Band 6 radio wave time calibration for automatic synchronization in Japan, North America, Europe, and China. Bluetooth connectivity is also onboard, enabling easy time syncing and watch management via the Casio Watches app.
As expected from the MT-G line, feature-parity is high. The watch includes world time for 39 time zones, a 1/100-second stopwatch, countdown timer, five daily alarms, super-bright LED illumination, a full auto-calendar, and a battery level indicator. On a full charge without further light exposure, Casio lists an operating time of about five months, which can be stretched to an impressive 18 months in power-saving mode.
Preorders are now live for Japanese customers directly through Casio. For those interested in exploring the previous generation of this hybrid metal design, the Casio MTG-B1000D-1AJF remains available on Amazon.
