For years, the choice has felt binary: immersive, noise-canceling sound that seals you off from the world, or open-ear audio that keeps you aware but often sacrifices audio fidelity and bass. Shokz, the brand that built its reputation on bone-conduction and open-ear headphones, is now blurring that line with its most ambitious product yet.
The company has officially announced the OpenFit Pro, its new flagship true wireless earbuds. In a significant first for Shokz, these open-ear buds incorporate active noise reduction (ANR), a feature absent from the popular OpenFit and OpenFit 2 models. This move signals a major evolution, aiming to deliver the best of both worlds—environmental awareness and immersive listening on demand.
Engineering a New Kind of Open-Ear Sound
At the heart of the OpenFit Pro is a newly developed synchronized dual-diaphragm driver system, powered by what Shokz calls SuperBoost technology. The design employs two large diaphragms that move in unison, a setup engineered to improve clarity across the entire frequency range. Shokz uses a PMI aluminum dome for structural rigidity and a silicone diaphragm to minimize distortion and, crucially, deliver a stronger low-end response—traditionally a challenge for open-ear designs.
The earbuds are also optimized for Dolby Atmos with head tracking, bringing spatial audio effects to an open-ear format. For those who like to tweak their sound, the Shokz app offers five preset EQ profiles and two fully customizable slots.
The ANR Breakthrough: Silence When You Want It
The headline feature is undoubtedly the active noise reduction. Shokz achieves this through a triple-microphone system paired with an "ear-canal adaptive algorithm." This system continuously monitors both external environmental noise and the sound inside your ear canal in real time to generate counter-noise.
Perhaps most thoughtfully, Shokz is putting control in the user's hands. You can manually adjust the level of noise reduction directly in the app. This allows for a seamless shift from a focused, immersive session with podcasts or music to a more transparent mode for commuting or office interaction, all without ever taking the buds out.

Design, Comfort, and All-Day Battery
Sticking with the proven formula, the OpenFit Pro uses a unibody design with a flexible nickel-titanium alloy ear hook and a soft silicone skin. Each earbud weighs 12.3 grams, designed for all-day comfort without blocking the ear canal.
Battery life is robust, rated for up to 12 hours on a single charge with ANR off, and 6 hours with it enabled. The charging case extends total battery life to a maximum of 50 hours. When you're in a rush, fast charging provides up to 4 hours of playback from just a 10-minute charge, and the case supports wireless charging.
Packed with Features
Rounding out the package are features expected from a flagship:
- Physical, waterproof buttons for reliable control.
- Automatic wear detection (play/pause).
- Multipoint Bluetooth pairing to connect to two devices simultaneously.
- Bluetooth 6.1 support.
- An IP55 rating for resistance against sweat and dust.
Price and Availability
The Shokz OpenFit Pro will be available in classic Black and White colorways. They are priced at €249 (approximately $292) and are set to go up for pre-order on January 6, 2026.
This launch represents a strategic leap for Shokz. By integrating active noise reduction into its open-ear design, the OpenFit Pro isn't just an incremental update—it's a compelling new option for anyone who has ever wanted noise cancellation without complete isolation.
