The vast, haunting world of Red Dead Redemption 2 is, famously, still giving up its secrets years after release. While many Easter eggs have been solved, a new and particularly cryptic one has the community scratching their heads, weaving a web of clues that—so far—no one has fully untangled.

A group of dedicated players, including Pariah87, u/FL4VA-01, and goldenplaysterraria, recently pieced together a bizarre geographical puzzle. Their discovery, popularized by the YouTuber Strange Man, begins with a seemingly innocuous detail: a specific spider web symbol etched onto a single telegraph pole.

The intrigue deepened when this symbol was superimposed onto the game’s map. This action revealed that eight distinct telegraph poles, each marked with a similar spider web and a feather, form a large, precise symbol across the landscape.

The Trail of Clues: From "N" to a Silent Guitar

Following the pattern to its center leads investigators to a specific tree adorned with a massive, unmistakable spider web. Here, the clue becomes direct: the web itself forms the letter “N,” pointing north. Heading in that direction takes you to another designated telegraph pole. The solution here is violence—shooting the pole reportedly triggers the next clue, instructing the player to go west.

The final step, after following the western direction, involves shooting one last pole. This action is said to reveal a spectral, floating guitar marked with the letters “NW,” pointing the way toward the formidable Fort Wallace.

But in a classic Red Dead Redemption 2 twist of ambiguity, the trail seems to go cold. Upon arriving at Fort Wallace, players have found that all the guitars within the fort appear completely normal, bearing no special marks or triggering any known events. The purpose of the elaborate hunt and its potential reward remain a complete mystery.

You can see the full investigation and the visual clues in Strange Man’s detailed video breakdown.

A Community on the Case

This new Easter egg has ignited the passion of the game’s detective community. Forums and social media are alight with theories and follow-up investigations. Is it an ultra-rare encounter trigger? Part of a larger, yet-unfound puzzle? Or perhaps a scrapped quest that remains partially active in the game’s code? The lack of a clear payoff has only fueled more intense scrutiny.

This is far from the first time players have dug deep into Red Dead Redemption 2’s code and landscape to find hidden treasures. Just a few months ago, another investigation led to methods for obtaining rare, unreleased clothing items, proving that Rockstar’s masterpiece is still a gift that keeps on giving for the inquisitive.

As noted by industry observers like SynthPotato on Twitter, the depth of these hidden elements continues to astonish, keeping the game alive and engaging long after its narrative conclusion.

The spider web mystery stands as a testament to the game’s incredible depth. For now, it remains an open case, inviting every cowboy and cowgirl with a keen eye and a repeater to study the telegraph poles and listen for the whispers of secrets not yet told. The hunt is very much still on.
