Poco X8 Pro Max Certification Trail Heats Up: Is a Global Launch Imminent?

Xiaomi will replace the Poco X7 Pro with two Poco X8 Pro-branded smartphones.

It is no secret that Xiaomi is developing a global alternative to the Redmi Turbo 5 Max. For context, the Redmi Turbo 5 Max can be imported, but Xiaomi's past performance indicates that both the Redmi Turbo 5 and Redmi Turbo 5 Max will remain exclusive to China throughout their lifespans.

However, Xiaomi is expected to rebrand the pair outside China. Currently, the Redmi Turbo 5 is anticipated to receive a global release as the Poco X8 Pro. Replacing last year's Poco X7 Pro (curr. $359 on Amazon), the Poco X8 Pro will line up with a Dimensity 8500 Ultra chipset and a 3,500-nit AMOLED display. Meanwhile, the Poco X8 Pro Max should be the global version of the Redmi Turbo 5 Max.

To that end, the Poco X8 Pro Max has begun appearing at regulatory bodies before its global release. Bearing the model number 2602BPC18G, the device has been spotted at the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) in Singapore, and most recently, Indonesia's Tingkat Komponen Dalam Negeri (TKDN) . While the official TKDN page is the authoritative source for certifications in Indonesia, its listings are typically backend databases, making leaks from trackers the primary way to confirm these developments.

According to a report from XpertPick, this latest approval at the Indonesian body is a strong indicator that Poco is preparing for a launch across multiple Asian markets, following similar certifications in India and Singapore. The growing list of nods from global regulators all but confirms that the "Pro Max" variant will indeed be an international product .

Thus, it seems that prior suggestions that the Poco X8 Pro Max would receive a global release were correct. While release details remain unknown for now, leaks have indicated that the Poco X8 Pro Max would retail for €529 (~$460) . Interestingly, while its Chinese sibling, the Redmi Turbo 5 Max, packs a massive 9,000 mAh battery, leaks suggest the global Poco version might feature a slightly smaller—but still impressive—8,500 mAh cell to comply with various international shipping regulations .

What to Expect from the Poco X8 Pro Max

If the leaks and certifications are any indication, the Poco X8 Pro Max is shaping up to be a battery champion without compromising on performance. Here’s a summary of the expected specifications based on its Redmi counterpart and recent leaks :

  • Display: 6.83-inch AMOLED, 1.5K resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 3,500-nit peak brightness.
  • Processor: MediaTek Dimensity 9500s chipset.
  • Battery: Expected 8,500 mAh (down from 9,000 mAh on the Redmi) with 100W wired fast charging.
  • Camera: 50MP main sensor with OIS + 8MP ultrawide; 20MP front camera.
  • Price: Leaked starting price of €529 for the 12GB/256GB variant.

The Poco X8 Pro Max’s journey through the TKDN, IMDA, and EEC certification bodies suggests that the official unveiling might be just around the corner. Please see our Redmi Turbo 5 Max launch article for more details about what to expect from its global counterpart.
