| Early images of the Honor Magic V6 showcase the stylish Red Rabbit colour option, whilst Oppo has teased the Find N6. |
Strictly speaking, our headline isn’t entirely accurate: Back at CES in early January, Motorola had already announced the mid-2026 launch of its Razr Fold, sharing early details and images of the device. However, 24 February marks a new beginning, not only because China is returning to work after Lunar New Year celebrations, but also because seasoned foldable makers Oppo and Honor both unveiled the first teasers for their 2026 foldables lineups.
If the first quarter of the year is any indication, 2026 is shaping up to be the year of the foldable. While the world waits for Apple to finally enter the arena, the established players are sprinting ahead. This week, two of the biggest names in the game—Honor and Oppo—have pulled back the curtain just enough to send waves of excitement through the tech community. With Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 looming on the horizon, the timing is perfect for a flagship showdown.
Honor Magic V6: The Year of the "Red Rabbit"
The Honor Magic V6 received a particularly extensive “warm-up” ahead of its global debut this Sunday at Mobile World Congress. Following sightings of a red Magic V6 model on the ski slopes at the Winter Olympic Games and during a high-fashion photo shoot, Honor has now released official renders of the “Red Rabbit” colourway along with a teaser video, showcasing several design highlights in the process.
The choice of the "Red Rabbit" moniker is a clever nod to the Lunar New Year, but the design itself is anything but traditional. Honor is clearly aiming for the premium segment, and if the renders are anything to go by, they might have a serious contender on their hands.
Velvety feel in dark red
According to Honor, the device’s back cover is designed to evoke the feel of French velvet and is crafted from a “super nano coating” material. This suggests a matte finish that is both luxurious to the touch and resistant to fingerprints—a common pet peeve among glass-backed phone users.
Powered by the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, Honor’s upcoming foldable certainly looks sleek with its golden embellishments. The champagne-gold hinge and camera bezels provide a striking contrast against the deep red chassis, giving the device a jewelry-like aesthetic. For those seeking a more understated look, three additional colour options are expected to be available.
The full teaser video and high-resolution images were shared directly by Honor on their official Weibo channel, giving fans a closer look at the texture and build quality.

Oppo Find N6 in Year of the Horse: Chasing the Crease
Not to be outdone, Oppo is leveraging its own symbolism to kick off the marketing cycle. To celebrate the Year of the Horse, Oppo has similarly released the first teaser for its upcoming Find N6 – rumoured by leakers to launch in Europe in 2026 – as a replacement for the cancelled OnePlus Open 2.
The imagery of a horse is apt; Oppo is betting that the Find N6 will be a workhorse device that races ahead of the competition. If a Geekbench leak proves accurate, the device is expected to feature a slightly pared-back version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. This "Elite" lite version could allow Oppo to manage thermals and battery life more efficiently in the compact foldable form factor without sacrificing real-world performance.
Whilst the teaser image reveals very little about the device, it does suggest the display may have a less prominent crease, an issue also expected to be a key focus for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, Samsung Galaxy Z Wide Fold, and Apple’s rumoured first foldable. The silhouette in the teaser shows the phone in profile, and industry insiders suggest that Oppo’s latest hinge technology—evolved from the highly acclaimed Find N5—might finally make the center crease virtually invisible to the naked eye and imperceptible to the touch.
For those scouring the web for hints, Oppo’s official teaser post offers the first official glimpse of the device's design language.

The Bigger Picture: A Foldable Renaissance
The timing of these teasers is crucial. With Samsung rumored to be overhauling the Galaxy Z Fold series and Apple's foldable iPhone/iPad hybrid expected to finally materialize, the pressure is on for Chinese manufacturers to solidify their foothold in the European and global markets.
The Oppo Find N6’s expected arrival in Europe fills a significant void left by the absence of the OnePlus Open 2, offering a premium alternative to the Honor Magic V6 and the Google Pixel Fold 2. Meanwhile, Honor’s Magic V6, with its unique "Red Rabbit" aesthetic and powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, is poised to challenge the status quo that Samsung has enjoyed for years.
With MWC 2026 just days away, these teasers are merely the starting gun for what promises to be a marathon year for foldable technology. We won't have to wait long to see if the real products live up to the hype.
