Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold colors might have just leaked — and one shade is a total surprise

Android 17's latest betas may just have leaked the upcoming Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold's colours

A deep dive into Android 17 Beta suggests Google is preparing a bold new look for its next foldable flagship, and the evidence is hiding in plain sight.

If you’ve been holding out for Google’s next big-screen foldable, the wait might finally have a splash of color attached to it. Fresh evidence buried inside the latest Android 17 Beta release points directly to the Pixel 11 Pro Fold — and more specifically, to the finishes Google is cooking up for its late-summer launch.

Software engineer and renowned Android sleuth Dylan Roussel was the first to spot the telling additions. Hidden among the beta’s wallpaper assets were two distinct designs labeled with names that longtime Pixel watchers will recognize as classic Google color codenames: “Pine” and “Midnight.”

A quick look at the evidence:

Midnight and Pine: What do the names actually tell us?

For anyone familiar with Google’s design playbook, the connection between wallpaper names and actual device colors is almost tradition. When the Pixel 6 series shipped with wallpapers labeled “Sorta Seafoam” and “Kinda Coral,” the phones themselves arrived in those exact shades. The same pattern held for “Hazel” and “Snow” on the Pixel 8 line.

So what do “Pine” and “Midnight” suggest this time?

  • Midnight — Based on the leaked wallpaper’s deep, ink-black aesthetic, this points to a classic dark obsidian-like finish. Matte black frames, stealthy camera bars, and a premium, understated vibe. Perfect for the Pro crowd who want their foldable to blend into boardrooms and dimly lit lounges.
  • Pine — This is where things get interesting. The accompanying wallpaper (dubbed “Tidal Swirl” in some build strings) features rich, dark green swirls with subtle organic texture. If the physical device follows suit, we’re looking at a deep forest green — not the pale mint of last year’s Pixel 8a, but a serious, almost brooding emerald tone.

That green is a genuine departure. Google’s recent Pro-line devices have played it safe with Porcelain (a warm off-white) and Obsidian (black). Throwing a dark green into the mix would be the most adventurous Pro color since the “Stormy Black” and “Clearly White” days of the Pixel 2 XL.

A smart move against Apple’s bold playbook

Google wouldn’t be doing this in a vacuum. Apple spent the last two iPhone cycles proving that premium users actually crave distinctive colors — the deep purple of the iPhone 14 Pro, the dark blue of the 15 Pro, and the show-stopping Cosmic Orange that turned heads on the iPhone 17 Pro line. Those finishes aren’t just pretty; they’re marketing weapons. They make a $1,200 device feel fresh and identifiable from across a coffee shop.

A “Pine” Pixel 11 Pro Fold could do exactly that. Foldables already command attention with their unique form factor. Give one a rich, dark green aluminum frame and matching hinge, and you’ve got a conversation starter that also looks serious enough for work.

What about the standard Pixel 11 and Pixel 11 Pro?

Google is expected to launch three devices this summer: the Pixel 11Pixel 11 Pro, and the Pixel 11 Pro Fold. While the A-series and base models often get playful colors (think “Peony” pink, “Isai” blue, or “Coral” red), the Pro models typically stick to muted, sophisticated palettes.

That makes “Pine” a clever middle ground — still professional, but far from boring. As for the standard Pixel 11, don’t be surprised if we see brighter options like “Tidal Teal” or “Moonlight Silver” (the latter’s wallpaper, labeled “Lunar Tides,” was also spotted in the same beta build).

When can we expect the official reveal?

Google’s hardware release rhythm has become fairly predictable. Late summer (think August or early September) is the usual window for the main Pixel lineup, with foldables sometimes trailing by a few weeks. Given that Android 17 is still in beta, a September 2026 launch for the Pixel 11 Pro Fold feels about right.

Until then, keep an eye on Dylan Roussel’s feed — and maybe start thinking about whether you’re a Midnight minimalist or a Pine pioneer.

Bottom line: If these leaks hold up, Google’s first truly distinctive Pro foldable color in years is on the way. And for once, it’s not black, white, or beige.
