After a long wait, Amazon's next-generation Kindle Scribe lineup is finally making its way to Europe, with official release dates confirmed for the UK and Germany.

It has been six long months since Amazon officially unveiled the third-generation Kindle Scribe and the all-new Kindle Scribe Colorsoft. While eager customers in the US have been able to get their hands on the devices since late last year—with the exception of the entry-level model without a front light, which is due later this year—European fans have been left in suspense. That wait is now nearly over. Amazon has officially confirmed the European launch dates, and pre-orders are opening very soon.

European Release Date & Pricing for the Kindle Scribe

According to an update on Amazon’s official press release page, the new Kindle Scribe with a front light will be available in Germany and the UK starting April 8.

In Germany, the base model (32GB) will retail for €519.99, while the larger 64GB version will cost €569.99. You can already check out the listing on Amazon.de here and the 64GB version here, but pre-orders aren't live just yet. For our readers in the UK, the Kindle Scribe with Front Light will start at £449.99. Unfortunately, Amazon UK has not yet listed the product, so pricing for the 64GB model is currently unknown.

Kindle Scribe Colorsoft: Price and Availability

For those wanting to add a splash of color to their note-taking, the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft will also launch on April 8. In Germany, it will carry a price tag of €649.99 for the 32GB model and €699.99 for the 64GB variant. Customers will have two color options: Graphite or Fig, with the Fig finish being exclusive to the 64GB model. UK pricing has been set at £569.99 for the base model, though again, the price for the 64GB version has not yet been disclosed.

A Complete Redesign Focused on Productivity

Amazon has completely reimagined its Scribe lineup from the ground up. The new devices are thinner and lighter than ever before, measuring just 5.4mm thick and weighing only 400g. Under the hood, a new quad-core processor makes the experience 40% faster for writing and page turns. The 11-inch glare-free display is designed to feel like real paper, with a new texture-molded glass that improves the friction of the pen glide.

The standout feature of the new range is the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft. This is Amazon's first-ever color Kindle designed for writing, utilizing a custom Colorsoft display technology. It promises a fluid color writing experience that is easy on the eyes, avoiding the harsh backlight of a standard LCD tablet. Both the standard Scribe and the Colorsoft come with a battery-free Premium Pen included in the box, along with extra replacement tips. The pen requires no pairing or charging, offering a truly seamless writing experience.

AI-Powered Notebooks and Cloud Integration

Beyond the hardware, the new Kindle Scribe lineup is packed with productivity-focused software features. A new AI-powered notebook allows users to search their handwritten notes naturally and receive simple AI summaries. The devices also now support Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive, making it easy to import documents for markup and export annotated PDFs. As noted on the Amazon newsroom, these features are designed to make the Kindle Scribe a true productivity tool, not just an e-reader.

What About the Entry-Level Model?

It's worth noting that while the front-lit Kindle Scribe and the Colorsoft are arriving in April, the Kindle Scribe without a front light is still slated for a later release this year. This model is expected to be the most affordable entry point into the Scribe ecosystem, though Amazon has not yet provided a specific launch window for the European market.

Bottom Line: The wait is almost over. European customers can finally get their hands on Amazon's most advanced Kindles starting April 8. Whether you opt for the standard model for its paper-like feel and AI tools, or splurge on the Colorsoft for its stunning color display, these devices represent a significant leap forward for digital note-taking and reading.

The Kindle Scribe Colorsoft has an 11-inch glare-free color display.

The Kindle Scribe (3rd Generation) has a larger 11-inch display and an improved writing experience.
