The long wait for the Xiaomi 17 Max might finally be coming to an end. After being first mentioned by leakers back in January, the largest and most powerful member of the Xiaomi 17 family is reportedly gearing up for an official debut.
The Final Piece of the Puzzle
According to a new post from tech blogger Kartikey Singh on X, the Xiaomi 17 Max is now scheduled to launch as the very last model in the current Xiaomi 17 lineup. The series already includes the compact 6.3-inch Xiaomi 17, the feature-rich Xiaomi 17 Pro, the massive Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, and the camera-centric Xiaomi 17 Ultra.

A Camera System That Means Business
Based on the specifications that have been circulating for some time, the Xiaomi 17 Max is shaping up to be much more than just a larger version of the base model. While it shares the same processor, the camera setup is reportedly getting a significant overhaul, taking some clear cues from the Pro models.
The biggest headline is the main camera. Leaks suggest a massive upgrade to a 200MP primary sensor, likely the Samsung ISOCELL HPE, which measures in at 1/1.4 inches. While not the largest on the market, it's a substantial step up and promises incredible detail in well-lit scenes. The telephoto camera is also expected to see a major boost, with rumors pointing to a 50MP periscope telephoto lens featuring a 1/1.95-inch Sony IMX8-series sensor. This would put its zoom capabilities on roughly equal footing with the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. Rounding out the rear setup is a 50MP ultra-wide camera, completing a versatile triple-camera array capable of handling any shooting scenario.
Under the Hood and on the Screen
Powering this beast is expected to be Qualcomm's latest and greatest: the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. This 3nm processor has already proven itself in the other Xiaomi 17 models, delivering top-tier performance for gaming, multitasking, and AI-driven tasks.
On the front, users can expect a large and immersive 6.9-inch OLED display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, making everything from scrolling through social media to watching high-action video content a buttery-smooth experience.
Unprecedented Battery Life
Perhaps the most intriguing spec of the Xiaomi 17 Max is its battery. Multiple sources, including Singh's post, point to a truly massive 8,000mAh cell. If accurate, this would be the largest battery ever fitted to a Xiaomi flagship phone, potentially offering multi-day battery life for even the heaviest users. And to ensure you aren't plugged in for too long, it's also tipped to support 100W wired fast charging and 50W wireless fast charging.
Release Date and Availability
According to the latest information, Xiaomi is planning to launch the 17 Max in its home market of China sometime in May 2026. The phone is expected to be positioned as a premium device, likely carrying a price tag higher than the standard Xiaomi 17.
As for availability outside of China, the situation is less clear. Xiaomi has historically kept some of its "Pro" and "Max" models exclusive to the Chinese market, and there is no confirmation yet on a European or global launch. Fans in the West may have to hope for a change in strategy or look to import units if the device doesn't get an official international release. For now, all eyes are on May.
