Niantic and Capcom have officially kicked off Part I of the highly anticipated Summer of Hunters 2026 event in Monster Hunter Now. This first phase runs from August 24 to August 31, with Part II following immediately after and continuing through September 6. Available now on both iOS and Android, the event brings a wealth of new content, including an exclusive weapon, significantly expanded field range, and boosted material rewards designed to give hunters a serious edge.
Forge the Tropical Cannon and Take on Boosted Spawns
The highlight of the event is the chance to earn the Tropical Cannon, an event-exclusive sleep-element gunlance. By completing the Summer of Hunters 2026 I quest chain, players will receive a forging ticket to craft this powerful weapon. The Tropical Cannon comes equipped with the Rude Awakener skill, making it ideal for capitalizing on sleeping monsters. It also supports style customization up to level 20 and serves as a featured defense weapon for Season 10 Wave 3, offering base defense bonuses that will be particularly useful ahead of the daunting Riftcharged Glavenus challenge.
In addition to the new gear, hunters will enjoy a 50 percent increase to their access range for the duration of the event, making it easier than ever to spot and engage monsters from a distance. Gathering points and small monster kills will also yield double materials, ensuring your inventory stays well-stocked.
Shifting Monster Focus
Part I of the event ramps up the encounter frequency for several fan-favorite and formidable foes, including Shogun Ceanataur, Deviljho, Diablos, and the Riftborne variants of Mizutsune, Paolumu, Glavenus, and Khezu. Notably, Diablos appears as a Riftcharged variant rather than its Riftborne counterpart. As the event transitions into Part II starting September 1, the field focus will shift to include Shogun Ceanataur, Mizutsune, Paolumu, Zinogre, Legiana, Jyuratodus, and Bazelgeuse, with Riftborne versions active across the board for that week.
24-Hour Interceptions and Reduced Driftsmelting Distance
For those looking to test their mettle against an elder dragon, Velkhana remains the featured target at Elder Dragon Interception points throughout both parts of the event. Hunt-a-thons and Elder Dragon Interceptions will run continuously for the full event window, bypassing the usual daily hour restrictions. Slaying Velkhana grants double materials across the first four basic reward slots, while general large monster hunts will yield double materials in the first two slots.
To help players optimize their builds, the driftsmelting distance for driftstones collected during the event has been reduced to just one kilometer. Featured monsters and elder dragons are guaranteed to drop a new item, the Mysterious Driftstone T, which can grant armor pieces either the Pursuit or Retaliation skill, offering fresh strategic options for endgame loadouts. Other large monsters will continue to drop the standard driftstone set.

Event Exchange Hub and Redemption Window
Finally, don't forget to spend your currency at the Event Exchange Hub, which accepts Summer of Hunters 2026 Exchange Tokens. Rewards include an exclusive Guild Card background to commemorate your participation. The exchange hub will remain open through September 13, giving players a grace period to redeem their tokens even after the main event concludes.
