| GTA 6 could be ported to the Switch 2 by Double Eleven. |
New job postings from the studio behind Red Dead Redemption's Switch port hint at an ambitious project—and Nintendo fans are paying attention.
Fresh speculation surrounding a potential Nintendo Switch 2 version of Grand Theft Auto 6 has emerged after Double Eleven, the UK-based studio responsible for porting Red Dead Redemption to Nintendo's latest console, posted two intriguing job listings.
The Middlesbrough-based developer is currently seeking a Lead Programmer and a Principal Low-Level Graphics Programmer, and the details within these postings have set tongues wagging across the gaming community.
What the Job Listings Reveal
The Lead Programmer position describes work on a "high profile project, which is a full art remaster of a much-loved title." While that description alone could apply to any number of classic games, it's the graphics programmer role that's really fuelling the rumour mill.
That listing calls for someone to "help architect, implement, and steer the technical vision for our next-generation custom graphics engine." Among the requirements? "Extensive experience working with modern console platforms, and bonus points for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2."
The role also involves developing a GPU-driven rendering pipeline, implementing hardware-accelerated ray tracing, and ensuring the engine "maximizes hardware utilization across PC and next-generation consoles."
The GTA 6 Connection
Nintendo-focused social media account TR NintendoBu was among the first to spot the listings, raising the tantalising question: could Double Eleven be adapting Rockstar's proprietary RAGE engine for the Switch 2?
It's worth emphasising that no official confirmation exists linking Double Eleven to GTA 6 or RAGE engine work. However, the studio's established relationship with Rockstar Games—having previously handled the Red Dead Redemption port for Switch 2—makes the speculation at least somewhat plausible.
This isn't the first time a GTA 6 Switch 2 port has been rumoured, either. Earlier this year, French retailer Cdiscount accidentally listed a Switch 2 version of the game, though such leaks have proven unreliable in the past.
🚨 GTA VI Switch 2 port'una işaret eden yeni ipuçları Rockstar Games'in Red Dead Redemption'ı Switch 2'ye taşıyan geliştirme ortağı Double Eleven, dikkat çekici iş ilanları yayımladı. 👀

A More Likely Scenario?
While the GTA 6 chatter is exciting, there's a more grounded possibility: Red Dead Redemption 2.
A credible leaker has maintained that a Switch 2 port of Rockstar's Western epic is still in development, and the job listings would align perfectly with such a project. A "full art remaster" of a "much-loved title" certainly fits the bill for RDR2, which remains one of the most acclaimed games of the last decade.
The graphics programmer role's emphasis on building a custom engine from the ground up, however, suggests something more ambitious than a straightforward port.
The Counterargument
Not everyone is convinced. A former Rockstar developer previously stated that bringing GTA 6 to Switch 2 "wouldn't make sense," arguing it would deliver a subpar experience given the game's immense technical demands.
With GTA 6 launching on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in less than a month—and PC players still waiting for their version—the idea of a Switch 2 port arriving anytime soon seems optimistic at best.
What Happens Next?
For now, all we have are breadcrumbs. Job listings are notoriously unreliable indicators of specific projects, and studios frequently work on multiple titles simultaneously.
What's clear is that Double Eleven is gearing up for something significant. Whether that's GTA 6, Red Dead Redemption 2, or an entirely different "much-loved title" remains to be seen.
One thing's for certain: Nintendo Switch 2 owners will be watching this story closely.
