| Govee’s Outdoor Deck Lights 2 |
Govee has quietly launched the second generation of its Outdoor Deck Lights in the US, and the upgrade list is longer than you might expect for a product that basically amounts to a string of smart bulbs for your fence. The Govee Outdoor Deck Lights 2 (model H3401) are now available directly from the brand and on Amazon, and if you move quickly, you can grab them at a discount.
What's New in the Second Generation?
The original Outdoor Deck Lights landed in 2024, and Govee has spent the intervening time addressing pretty much every complaint a smart-lighting nerd could have. The headline addition is Matter compatibility, which means the lights should play nicely with Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and Samsung SmartThings without any proprietary bridge nonsense. Voice control via Alexa and Google Assistant is supported too, so you can bark orders at your deck without reaching for your phone.
Under the hood, each of the ten RGBWIC bulbs is powered by a 16-bit IC chip, which unlocks more than 16 million colors and lets you adjust every single light independently through the Govee Home app. That's a big deal for anyone who wants a gradient effect across a long fence line rather than ten bulbs all doing the exact same thing.
Colors, Scenes, and Music Sync
Govee is throwing in over 100 preset scenes for holidays, parties, and everyday evenings, plus 10 music modes that sync the lights to whatever's playing. If you're the type who likes to tinker, you can build your own effects from scratch. White color temperature is adjustable from a very warm 1,000K all the way up to 10,000K, which covers everything from cozy amber to harsh daylight.
There's also Govee DreamView support, so if you already own other Govee lights, the deck lights can sync colors and effects with them in real time for a fully coordinated outdoor setup.
The Specs That Matter
- Brightness: 1,500 total luminous flux (1,350 lumens useful), or 150 lumens per bulb
- String length: 44 ft (~13.4 m) with 10 bulbs
- Weather resistance: IP67 rated, operating from -4°F to 104°F (-20°C to 40°C)
- Lifespan: 25,000 hours
- Connectivity: Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, app control, voice, and Matter
- Expansion: Connect up to two strings for longer runs
- Installation: One screw or adhesive backing per bulb
IP67 is worth flagging here — that's full dust protection and the ability to survive temporary immersion, which is more than most outdoor lighting bothers with.
Price and Availability
The Govee Outdoor Deck Lights 2 retail for $119.99** at [Govee's US store], but they're currently marked down to **$99.99 over on Amazon. Govee hasn't said how long that deal will stick around, so it's worth checking before you commit. The product ships with a one-year warranty.
One caveat for international readers: Govee has not yet announced whether or when the Outdoor Deck Lights 2 will launch in Europe. For now, this is a US-only release.
Should You Bother?
If you've been looking for a way to light up a fence, deck, or patio without hiring an electrician, this is a pretty compelling package. The Matter support future-proofs the purchase, the per-bulb control is genuinely useful, and the brightness figures are respectable for accent lighting. The 44-foot string is long enough for most residential decks, and the ability to daisy-chain a second string means larger yards aren't left out.
The biggest question mark is longevity — 25,000 hours is a solid claim on paper, but outdoor lighting lives a hard life. Still, at under $100 during the launch promotion, the Govee Outdoor Deck Lights 2 look like one of the better value picks in the smart outdoor lighting space right now.
