A parkour game where the goal is the descent, not the climb, is offering its core mechanic as a free demo ahead of its November 5 launch.
Most games ask you to climb. Where the Seeds Fall asks you to do the opposite — and then makes you very, very afraid of the drop.
Set in a world where a mysterious corruption known as the "Blight" has poisoned the ground, humanity has fled upward, building a new home among the branches of an enormous World Tree. That refuge is now collapsing too. You play as an unnamed soldier who encounters a child the tree's inhabitants fear as the "harbinger" of catastrophe — a child who happens to look like his late daughter. Against orders, he chooses to protect her, and the two set out on a dangerous journey back down to the surface.
That downward journey is the game. Players pick their way through ruined structures, leap between crumbling platforms, and read wind currents before committing to a jump. A realistic sense of weight and momentum means every drop carries genuine tension.
Where the Seeds Fall isn't just about jumping – there's climbing, too. And yes, players carry the child on their back.
The flower mechanic is the hook
The twist that makes Where the Seeds Fall stand out is its cushioning system. Players collect special flower buds and throw them toward a landing spot; a flower blooms where the bud lands, absorbing the impact of a fall that would otherwise be fatal. Deciding where to throw — and when to jump — becomes the central puzzle of each descent.
The game also keeps dialogue to a minimum, telling its story through light, colour, scenery and animation instead. The main story runs roughly three hours, with high-difficulty stages and a speedrun mode unlocked after completion for players who want to master their routes.

Ahead of launch, the developers have released a free demo on Steam that covers the core gameplay — the descent itself — with all movement abilities unlocked from the start. In the full game, those abilities are handed out gradually.
Worth noting: the demo is intentionally tough. The developers have said the finished game will offer a gentler introduction, so don't read too much into the difficulty of the trial. The demo descent takes around 15 to 30 minutes and contains no story spoilers.
The game has also been rated "Verified" for Steam Deck ahead of release, so handheld players can jump in too.
Where the Seeds Fall launches on November 5 for around $10. You can wishlist it and grab the free demo on Steam.
Minimum specs: Windows 11, Intel Core i5-10400 or AMD Ryzen 5 5500, 16 GB RAM, GeForce GTX 1660 (6 GB) or Radeon RX 6600 (8 GB), DirectX 12, 5 GB SSD storage.
