Xiaomi's New Redmi A27U Monitors Bring 4K, 120Hz and USB-C Charging to Budget Buyers

The Redmi A27U series contains three variants for its '2027' release.

Xiaomi has quietly expanded its budget monitor lineup in China with the Redmi A27U 2027 series, and the trio of 27-inch displays is turning heads for packing 4K IPS panels, USB-C charging and even a 120Hz refresh rate into a wallet-friendly price bracket. The monitors were first teased over a month ago, but they're now officially on sale in Xiaomi's home market.

The lineup starts with the standard Redmi A27U 2027, priced at CNY 1,499 (around $225) but currently discounted to CNY 1,199 (roughly $179) on Xiaomi's website. For that money, you get a 4K IPS panel with 400 nits of peak brightness, 98% DCI-P3 colour coverage and a 75Hz refresh rate — a solid package for productivity work and casual media consumption.

Three Models, Three Sets of Trade-offs

The middle child is the Redmi A27U Type-C 2027, which carries an MSRP of CNY 1,699 (about $255), discounted to CNY 1,399 (around $210) at the time of writing. As the name suggests, this model adds the USB Type-C port missing from the base version, and it supports 90W charging when connected to a compatible laptop — handy for anyone who wants a single-cable desk setup. It keeps the same 4K resolution and 75Hz refresh rate as the standard model.

Then there's the flagship of the budget bunch: the Redmi A27U Type-C 120Hz 2027. Priced at CNY 1,699 (roughly $255) after a discount from its CNY 1,999 (about $300) MSRP, this version bumps the refresh rate to 120Hz for smoother scrolling and gaming. Better yet, Xiaomi's Dual Mode technology lets it switch to a 1080p/240Hz mode, which should appeal to competitive gamers on a tighter budget.

What's Missing — and What's Next

The obvious caveat is that none of these monitors have been confirmed for global release. Xiaomi has a habit of keeping its most aggressive budget displays confined to China, though it does sell other 27-inch models internationally — including the 2K Monitor A27Qi, which is currently listed at $184.99 on Amazon. If you're outside China and want to keep an eye on comparable deals, it's worth checking Amazon for the latest Xiaomi monitor listings.

Historically, Xiaomi has rebranded its Redmi-exclusive monitors before launching them in Western markets, so there's a reasonable chance these panels will eventually surface under a different name. For now, though, buyers in China are the only ones who can take advantage of what looks like one of the better value 4K monitor lineups on the market.

The Bottom Line

Xiaomi's Redmi A27U 2027 series proves that 4K resolution, USB-C charging and high refresh rates don't have to command a premium. The base model undercuts most 4K competitors, while the 120Hz Type-C variant offers a rare combination of features at its price point. Whether they'll ever reach international shelves remains an open question — but if they do, budget-conscious buyers will have three more reasons to consider going Redmi.
