Android users often have many problems with the app store.Perhaps the most important one is the difficulty of updating some apps, but unfortunately you won't be able to download apps correctly without updating Google Play Services.

Today we will learn about Google Play services, how to update them properly, and why you can not update them sometimes?

First, what are Google Play services:

Google Play Services is the platform responsible for managing the Android App Store. It controls the downloading and running of applications seamlessly on your device, as well as constantly updating them.

It is also responsible for linking apps to other Google services, such as: Google Account login, Maps, Gmail, and without running Google Play services, you can't use any of the major Google apps on your phone.

Please note that Google Play services do not deplete the battery quickly, and do not use a large amount of phone data plan, so you should not turn it off, or uninstall it.

Second, how to update Google Play services:

Most of the time, Google Play services are updated by default on Android devices, but in case of any problem you can go to the settings to check, as follows:

  • Go to Settings on your device.
  • Tap Apps & notifications.
  • Tap See all apps
  • Scroll down to Google Play, click on App Details.
  • Click Update or Install.
  • If you do not see these options as shown in the following image, follow the manual repair and update steps listed below.

Third, how to manually install the latest version of Google Play services on your device.

1. Check your Internet connection:

An unstable Internet connection is the first reason not to update Google Play services, so you should make sure that you are connected to a stable Wi-Fi network when trying to update.

If you are still having problems, restart your device to bypass any temporary issues. If this step does not resolve the issue, you must restart your router as well.

2- Clear cache, data for Google Play services:

Clearing the Google Play Services cache location is the best way to resolve update issues. To do this, perform the following steps, which may vary slightly depending on the Android version installed on your device:

  • Go to Settings on your device.
  • Tap Apps & notifications.
  • Tap See all apps

  • Scroll down to Google Play, then tap on it.
  • Click on Storage & cache.
  • Press the Clear cache option.  Then click on the Clear data option

Once you have completed these steps, wait for 5 minutes, then try the update again, as the green button (Deactivate) will appear if you are up to date, or the Update button if you can install a new version.
