The Russian court recognizes the legitimacy of the facial recognition system in Moscow

Reuters reported on Tuesday that the Moscow court ruled in favor of the use of facial recognition in cities on Tuesday, saying: This does not harm the privacy of citizens and targets activists who want to ban the use of technology.

Soledernost lawyers (Alina Popova) and opposition politician (Vladimir Milov) filed a complaint against the (Ministry of Technology), which is conducting video surveillance in the capital to ban the use of technology in mass events and demonstrations.

Moscow concluded the presentation of facial recognition technology in December with a small software contract. The Ministry of Technology has spent at least 3.3 billion rubles (about $ 50 million) on the program, which now includes more than 105,000 units equipped with technology.

The system is still running during ongoing lawsuits as technology uses technology to ensure that those who need to stay at home or in the hotel are isolated from a new outbreak of the Coronavirus.

The Ministry of Science and Technology stated on its website that it uses video surveillance in crowded areas to "ensure security" and confirmed that the video will be deleted within five days of registration, unless this is done by the public required or law enforcement.
