Samsung is no longer providing security support for its two most popular phones

Samsung has officially announced the end of support for the two best known smartphones launched in recent years: Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge.

Support ended nearly four years after the launch of two flagship phones in 2016, and these two phones can no longer receive software updates from Samsung.

During the last period, these two phones received security updates every three months and received the March 2020 update last month, but they will not receive regular updates from the supplement. However, the third phone in the (Galaxy S7) series continues to receive security updates every three months, namely (Galaxy S7 Active) Galaxy S7 Active.

Samsung launched Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge with Android 6 (Marshmallow) in 2016. Until 2018, both received Android updates with Android 8 (Oreo) from Google. Samsung then continued to release security updates.

It should be noted that Samsung has stopped the release of security updates for phones that were introduced in 2017 and 2018, but not from the main phones, namely: Galaxy A3, Galaxy A3, Galaxy A7 and Galaxy A8 Plus started in 2017. Galaxy A8 Plus was launched in 2018.
