| Trump is giving TikTok a new deadline |
President Trump issued an executive order on Friday giving ByteDance up to 90 days to sell or split TikTok companies in the United States.
Trump wrote in the executive order: "There is strong evidence that leads me to believe that BiteDance can take actions that threaten the national security of the United States."
ByteDance is headquartered in China, and the Trump administration recently suggested that the company could share information about Americans with the Chinese government, but the company denies this.
The move gave TikTok some time after implementing an order on August 6 to block all transactions with TikTok's parent company, ByteDance, in the US, with the president describing it as an attempt to resolve a national IT suppliers emergency. And communication.
The deadline for the video request was originally set for September 20, but now ends November 12.
According to the latest executive order, ByteDance must destroy all TikTok data related to US users and report to the US Foreign Investment Commission after all data is destroyed.
ByteDance is also expected to destroy any data collected using the old TikTok app (Musical.ly) that the company bought in 2017.
The original decree and its 45-day deadline did not include these requirements.

Microsoft is in talks to acquire the TikTok app, and a report last week mentioned that the Twitter platform is also interested.
It's unclear exactly how Friday's executive order will affect the potential sale, but Microsoft has said it plans to end the discussion before September 15, 2020.
