Former Vertu employees release new luxury smartphone

Luxury phones have always been around, but the most well-known company in this area is Vertu, which was originally a high-profile division of Nokia.

The company sold Nokia phones made of premium materials to the rich but failed in the smartphone era. Since then, many competitors have tried to bring advanced cell phones to the market, but none of them have achieved much success.

Today, Xor (IGSOR), founded by former Design Director Vertu and several other former employees, is trying to restore its original spirit.

Hutchison is the co-founder of Xor, was Director of Design for Vertu and held similar positions at Vertu. He said a bunch of former Vertu customers called him and still liked calls from the company after long failures. Many of them are wealthy enough to fund companies like Xor, which make great cell phones for the wealthy elite.

The company launched the first Xor Titanium mobile phone, dubbed with a titanium body. This phone doesn't try to outperform Apple, Google and Samsung in terms of specs, just a conventional phone. With the exception of SMS text messages, the connection of voice calls over 2G and 3G networks is limited. Aside from the air quality sensor, there are no advanced features other than active noise cancellation for calls and support for wireless charging.

The phone also has the advantage that the battery can be used normally for five days. Hutchison said: The phone-based Linux system has limited software functionality.

Network security is an important part of Xor's sales plan as the phone has reliable connections. If two people have Xor phones, they can use hardware-level end-to-end (AES256) encryption to exchange calls and text messages. The phone also uses other ringtones to indicate if the call is encrypted. Each phone also has a secret remote key that users can use to wipe their data remotely.

Similar to the Vertuo phones, the Xor phones are handcrafted in England. Despite its poor specification, the Xor Titanium is priced at $ 3,942. Hence, this phone is believed to be intended for consumers who spend more money on luxury watches or luxury cars, not ordinary consumers. Historically speaking, Vertu's biggest markets were not the United States and Europe, but rather Asia and the Middle East.

Xor hopes to use his device as a second phone for business people who still use voice calling for most of their businesses. This phone will be released in the first quarter of 2021.
