According to a new report, Samsung plans to introduce its first under-screen camera in its upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 3 foldable phone.

In recent years, several Android manufacturers have introduced solutions for sub photo cameras. However, ZTE is currently the only brand to offer commercial smartphones with this technology.

With Xiaomi's third-generation under-display camera solution entering mass production next year, that situation may change soon.

However, ZTE and Xiaomi will not be the only companies selling devices with under-screen sensors for long.

Samsung is still working hard to fix the under-screen camera issue and it may release the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 next year.

Samsung launched the original Galaxy Fold early last year. There is a large hole in the upper right corner of the main front camera screen.

Then the company launched the Galaxy Z Fold 2 in September of that year, which offers a better solution with a circular hole.

According to familiar industry data, Samsung completed its plan to commercialize under-screen camera technology with the Galaxy Z Fold 3 in the third quarter of 2021.

The report also shows that the Samsung solution uses a custom Samsung display and that the image sensor is sourced from the System LSI department of Samsung Electronics.

In addition to special devices, the Korean company is also working on image correction algorithms. To increase the efficiency of the camera placed under the screen, the light is refracted by the OLED screen layer.
