Microsoft Edge introduces several improvements

Microsoft released version 88 of its Microsoft Edge web browser based on the Chromium Project. This release provides performance improvements to the feature (ready tab), feature (vertical tab), and improved cookie management tools.

Since August, Microsoft's team has been working to correct Microsoft Edge's performance using benchmarks.

In September, the company introduced a new feature called Sleeper Tabs that can drastically reduce memory and processor usage and reduce laptop battery drain.

Introduced in the 88 Beta, this feature improved performance by placing inactive tabs in sleep mode to free system resources from active tabs or other applications.

According to Microsoft's internal tests ("Hibernation" tab), memory usage is reduced by an average of 32% and CPU utilization is reduced by an average of 37%.

Version 88 includes options to put the tab to sleep after five minutes of inactivity and provides group policies for administrative management (sleep tab).

The browser now includes a new feature called (Startup Boost) that makes the browser run faster by running in the background. Currently, the beta feature is only available to certain users.

Version 88 also has a feature (vertical tabs) that allows users to manage multiple tabs.

Microsoft said: (Vertical tabs) allow users to move tabs sideways because vertically placed icons and long website address make it easy for you to select which tabs you want to open and move quickly.

There are several other updates and changes in the Microsoft Edge 88 browser beta, including the removal of Flash Player from Adobe.

Adobe is preparing to end support for Flash Player later this year and released the latest security update this week. Users will be required to uninstall it before Flash Player expires. .

Flash content will be blocked starting January 12, 2021. Microsoft released an update to Windows 10 last month that permanently removes Flash Player.

If a user's password is found in an Internet leak, Version 88 issues a security warning.

The new version aims to make it easier for users to manage website permissions and delete third-party cookies.

Users can also sort cookies by entity, name, number of cookies, amount of data saved, and last change.
