| Qualcomm launches Snapdragon 870 processor |
Qualcomm has announced its new Snapdragon 870 mobile processor, which will replace last year's Snapdragon 865 and Snapdragon 865 Plus models.
Snapdragon 870 is the latest chip in the company's Snapdragon 8 series and it is an updated version of the Snapdragon 865.
The processor uses an updated Kryo 585 core at speeds of up to 3.2GHz, which makes it about 10% faster than Snapdragon 865 at 2.84GHz and about 3% faster than Snapdragon 865 Plus at 3.1GHz.
The new Snapdragon 870 is no different from the Snapdragon 865 and the faster core. The only clear difference between the two is the supported Bluetooth version.
Although Snapdragon 865 supports Bluetooth 5.1, Snapdragon 870 offers Bluetooth 5.2 support.
The processor can run a 1440p screen with a 1440Hz refresh rate or a 4K screen with a 60Hz refresh rate and supports HDR10 +.
The new Snapdragon 870 supports a new generation of flagship devices from well-known manufacturers such as Motorola, OnePlus, Xiaomi, Oppo and iQOO.
With the increasing demand for affordable flagship smartphones and processor releases, chip-enabled devices are expected to hit the market in the first quarter of 2021.
The new processor is the same as the Snapdragon 865 and Snapdragon 865 Plus processors as it has the same design until the Kryo 585 and Adreno 650 GPU cores.
Qualcomm said: The reason for introducing new chips is to meet the needs of manufacturers and the market.
Snapdragon 870 is built for businesses that want to offer high-end processors but don't need the absolute best features and higher prices than the flagship Snapdragon 888.
The company expects the price of phones with new processors to be less than $ 800.
There should be some marketing content here as well, as the new Snapdragon 870 is moderately improved and speed compared to Snapdragon 865 Plus, which means that companies using this chip in cell phones can get a new one in 2021.
