Samsung launched the Galaxy SmartTag tracker

Samsung has released a small Bluetooth tool that can help you locate lost items, just like the Tile (called the Galaxy SmartTag), which will go on sale January 29 for $ 30.

Similar to Apple's Tile and AirTags, the device can be associated with keys, boxes, or other items that you want to track.

The Galaxy SmartTag uses Bluetooth technology to communicate with nearby Samsung devices, and the company has confirmed that a high-speed version of the Galaxy SmartTag Plus dubbed UWB will be available later this year.

With the release of UWB broadband, it can compete better with Apple's AirTag, which should also take advantage of the iPhone's updated UWB feature.

The tracker is sold in two different colors and can be used with any Galaxy device as long as the device is running Android 10 or higher.

The device owner can then use the provided tracking device to find lost items through the SmartThings Find app.

This is similar to how bluetooth tiles and low-power trackers work. When the tracker is offline (i.e. not connected to the Galaxy S21 or any other device), it will send out a Bluetooth Low Energy signal that may be near the Galaxy device that was detected.

When the device is detected, the device will send nearby location information to the SmartThings Fine app so that you can find the item.

Samsung said: User data in SmartThings Find app is encrypted and secure. So if you lose your device and use the app to search, your location and personal information will be safe.

The app also offers a variety of location tools, including the 'Notify me when found' option and the 'Find and Ring' tool.

Just like with Tile, you can also use the device to find the lost phone. In this case, you can double-click the Galaxy SmartTag button to get a notification that will help you find the lost phone.

You can also customize the logo and do other things with just one click, so you can easily turn on the lights or the TV when you are at home.
