YouTube has paid out over $ 30 billion to the creators

Google's proprietary platform, YouTube, has paid out more than $ 30 billion to creators, artists, and media organizations over the past three years, according to news from Google CEO Susan Wojcicki.

In Wojcicki's first message to creators in 2021, the CEO spent some time discussing YouTube's growth.

YouTube's decision to ban videos spreading false information is one example that emerged after the 2020 presidential election.

The new policy took effect in December, but YouTube has given content producers a grace period to ensure their videos do not violate the new policy.

YouTube executives are also facing increasing pressure to better monitor the site and prevent the spread of misinformation.

Wojcicki wrote that the platform is now focusing on misinformation about vaccination: We have tried to follow guidelines laid down by governments around the world to strike the right balance between openness and accountability.

A current hot topic in the technology policy community is the Section 230 reform, which allows social media platforms (such as YouTube, Facebook, Google, and Twitter) to operate effectively without taking responsibility for what people post.

The CEO described Section 230 as a law allowing YouTube to remain open, allow a large amount of online content, and take steps to protect the platform.
