YouTube tests the Clips feature via live broadcast

YouTube is testing a new feature called "Clip" that allows users to create short, shareable videos for producers of content from live broadcasts.

Clips is a standard feature for live streaming that finally got YouTube approval. The platform announced that it is testing this feature with a small group of developers.

And if the popularity of Clip on Twitch shows any signs of this, then this feature is likely one of the most important YouTube add-ons in the recent past.

Editing allows developers and viewers to capture 5 to 60 seconds of live programming and share it with others.

When there is an interesting moment, an insightful quote, an embarrassing mistake, etc., viewers tend to create clips of the show.

Sharing a 15 second clip is more convenient than a full live broadcast of more than 3 hours.

The short video that is created is given its own URL, which links to the creator's channel. Every time a viewer pauses and shares the show, that can help the channel attract more viewers.

Creators and viewers can create short clips by clicking the Clip icon. However, this feature is currently limited to desktop and Android devices.

It is also possible to create clips while live stream from the creator or the next downloaded video.

When you watch content from one of the channels included in the test kit, a scissor-shaped function icon is displayed at the bottom of the video.

You can click the icon, then select a portion of the video to share with other people, add the title of the video, and then click "Share this clip with YouTube" to create the sharing URL.

Although clips can only be created from certain channels during the trial period, all viewers can create clips from those channels and share them via social platforms or direct communication (such as email or SMS).

When a user creates a clip, the clip is saved in a special tag containing all the videos the user has created on YouTube.

YouTube does not specify which channels are part of this test suite. So you must look for this symbol.

The addition of this feature is another sign that the online video giant intends to improve its live broadcasting capabilities.
