Demand for Chromebooks will double in 2020

As people are forced to work and study from home during the Coronavirus pandemic, demand for Chromebooks will increase in 2020.

Market research firm Canalys estimates Chromebook shipments will double from 14.7 million to 30.7 million in 2020.

She said that increased demand is inevitable, and due to the second wave of the Coronavirus, which has led to more closures and more distance learning, schools and students often fail to control mobile devices.

Market research firm Canalys also said that the profitability of this tablet is not that high, in part because the market is large.

In 2020, the global computer market (including tablet computers) continued to grow, and reached the third consecutive quarter of annual growth. Deliveries in the fourth quarter were 143.7 million units, up 35% over the previous year.

Total deliveries in 2020 increased 17% to 458.2 million units, the highest level since 2015.

Lenovo ranked first in the market for the fourth quarter and full year with 28.8 million and 87 million units respectively.

Supporting the excellent performance of the iPad, Apple closed the gap with Lenovo in second place, selling 26.4 million Macs and iPads in the fourth quarter for a total of 81.4 million units for the full year.

HP, Dell and Samsung are in the top five and each recorded double-digit growth in deliveries in the fourth quarter of 2020.
